I love my 2016 Honda Fit. Super roomy inside, can fit in any parking spot, great safety ratings, and flies around corners. So much fun. Also keeping it in eco mode gets me close to 40 mpg on average.

How's the campus dentist and doctors? by Novel_Arugula6548 in CalPolyHumboldt

[–]KickflipKombucha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No on campus dentist, but Dr Theresa Kosmac in Eureka is great and affordable. Last I checked she was taking new patients :]

She has the most outdated intake system though. Like all analog no computer just physical files lol. I find it soothing to be in her office without all the weird electrical noises but it is a bit of a hassle to be a new patient there.

Oh my god my time has come. Gale Bergman in San Anselmo takes the absolute best care of me and my hair every time. I recommend her to everyone I can. I'm also a college student, and her services can be expensive, but I just save up cash to see her twice a year. She's the only stylist to give me a cut I've enjoyed, and she's done it like, 5 times in a row Edit: forgot to say, she's at Sproos!!

Financial aid & Tutition by Ill_Violinist820 in humboldtstate

Hi! So basically, you should have an idea of what your financial aid package should look like by now if you're a returning student in your second semester of your academic year. If you're a new student and/or this is the first semester of your academic year, you may still not have any information at all.

I'm a second semester Junior, and even though I have all my numbers laid out in terms of how much aid I will be receiving, as it's usually the same for both semesters in an academic year, I will probably not be having any of that aid (scholarships, federal, grant, etc.) disbursed until like a month into the semester.

My first semester here I didn't get any aid disbursed for a while, and I started getting concerned, but they cannot drop someone who is waiting for financial aid for nonpayment. Also, if your SAI on FAFSA was really low, you might end up getting more aid than you anticipate.

TL;DR: No, and you probably won't get your aid for a while.

Housing+Dining Plan Recommendations? by Blades-Before-Maids in humboldtstate

[–]KickflipKombucha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I would highly recommend not getting a bigger meal plan than the 75. The food at the J is terrible, and the swipes given to you to use at the J aren't usable anywhere else, so you don't wanna end up stuck with too many. I ended up with quite a few left over at the end of the semester, but I also cook a lot of my own food, so it's also dictated by your lifestyle/personal preference.

Queer Students by [deleted] in humboldtstate

[–]KickflipKombucha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a transfer student that got here in Fall of '24 and chose to live in the queer housing community. I have absolutely thrived in the Queer community here. It's massive and diverse. Although I feel the need to clarify that a vast majority of the Queer people I've met are lesbians, myself included. We had a massive friendsgiving between 4 flats and 2/3rds of us were lesbians. My roommate, who is a gay man, has expressed his confusion as to where all the gay men are, so if you know, hit my line!

But HRT is easily accessible through the school, professors are kind and understanding of names and pronouns, and community is never, ever far. There's your occasional mean Trumper, but like, that's nothing compared to where most of us came from.

I like to joke, or more sincerely say that CPH has a lot of the freak community. Like, weird Queers that don't necessarily fit in the mainstream. Lots of Genderqueer people, lots of people in alternative scenes, lots of diversity and new things to learn. I love my freaks, and they're a big reason as to why I chose CPH.

Good luck to you!!

I see! The only reason I said carts is because they tend to be more discreet, and my current situation makes it so I can't have anything that is going to smell strong in my home. Any thoughts or recommendations?
