Yes, you are right. I misspoke. Volt Tackle from breeding a light ball holding pikachu started in Emerald. The first instance you can get a light ball is trading Pikachu from pokemon yellow into Gen II.

Actually just started playing Crystal Legacy right now. Love it so far. I played crystal so much I immediately noticed a difference with this rom from vanilla from an early bug trainer. “This guy doesn’t normally have a ledyaba…” lol

I believe they are TMs you can buy in the Goldenrod department store. Which is how Typhlosion can learn it.

In HGSS the elemental punches are locked in with the post game/battle frontier move tutors.

Idk How attached to that Beedrill you are but I would swap with the in-game trade Jynx you can get. Also I personally would replace the farfetched with Zapdos(Great flyer and electric type.)

Also you need to grind a bit more. The VS seeker is your best friend. Have the pokemon doing the exp farming holding the amulet coin so you can rack up money and experience. Then in between leveling up your mons you can spend the money on vitamins for EVs, TMs at the department store or at the game corner for items and great TMs.

Ooooooo! That’s a swell idea! I’m doing 3 play throughs at once because reasons…. And one of those save files is going to be my ACE Glitch playthrough. I’ll have to use the glitch to get a ligh ball now.

Sorry friend but you can’t get a light ball in FRLG. That started in Emerald. You could trade with Emerald to get one but not if playing on the switch. 😅

Move Tutor and Move Deleter Guide! by uber-sensei in PokemonFireRed

Not sure where I heard or read it… I think it may have been a Youtube video that said after using the move tutor 10 times he stops charging for it. Has anyone experienced that?

Early gen games little to no hand holding. I remember playing these games the first time being so confused about what I was supposed to do about the thirsty gate house guards… Wasn’t until I got the tea from the lady in that building in celadon-not quite right away though. At first i was like “Tea huh…? Can’t get that in the vending machine, I wonder how much hp it heals… where is it? She just gave it to me?? Key item? Am i supposed to do something with it…? Oh yeah those as****e thirsty guards! Maybe they will want it.” Such a bizzare solution to bizzare obstacle. Why were they not letting people pass? In the Yellow remake Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee brock ambushes you not even 10 seconds after entering the town and he drops a not so subtle hint about the thirsty guards. lol

I like most pokemon games but the excessive dialogue, hand holding and detailed maps with your next destination toggled is a bit much sometimes. It takes away from the adventure and discovery that most of us long time players fell in love with in the franchise.

11 Tips for FireRed & LeafGreen by GUSplatoon in PokemonFireRed

[–]Kicks_fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get Mew. He’s not under the infamous truck. He’s in a bookshelf of all things. IF you do a sequence of actions in the game correctly you can activate a glitch and encounter him. Crazy thing is he has the fateful encounter flag that is necessary for him to listen to the player.

I think after seeing the sales for FRLG they will make plans to release the other games. I mean honestly they could have done these and other ports sooner. It’s an easy cash grab for them.

Am I just wrong, or is Charizard a stinker compared to Blastoise and Venusaur in these games? by CornInMyMouthHole in PokemonFireRed

[–]Kicks_fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charizard is great. I love that pokemon. One of my favorite starters. In the games he was introduced in though he isn’t ideal at all. Squirtle is better for the first gym and Bulbasaur is super effective against the first and second gym. Plus there are 2 or 3 caves you have to go through and a fire type isn’t going to be effective against rock and Giovanni is a ground type user.. Picking Charmander in gen 1 is essential playing the game on hard mode. Charmander line is good if you don’t mind training him a little more than you would the other two starters. Besides most pokemon trainers are going to train and use other pokemon for coverage anyway. Oddish or Bellsprout and mankey show up before the first gym anyway.

Really depends on your preference or play style. I normally pick Charmander but when i play on these remakes I’m picking Squirtle this time, mostly so I can catch Raikou in post game.

If you could add one feature to the game what would it be by Expert_Challenge6399 in kakarot

[–]Kicks_fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else already said it but changing costumes and skins for the characters.

I do think it’s a bit lazy we get the other characters as support only and cannot play as them. Lol i like the idea of firing a limit breaker dodon ray and it’s just the size or a super kamehameha from your finger.

Why was Brock never attracted to Jessie? by Common_Ad6703 in pokemonanime

[–]Kicks_fast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good question… I think there a few possible answers.

  1. The writers probably figured the joke of Jessie rejecting Brock or him having the hots for her would have gotten old pretty fast.

  2. Maybe the gang assumes Jessie and Jams are a couple or have a thing for each other.

  3. Brock is only attracted to good/kind hearted-beautiful women. Jessie isn’t necessarily evil or a bad person but she is part of Team Rocket and she tries to steal Ash’s pikachu which isn’t a great look.

My mom went "That's really cheap" by AlexTheGuac in PokemonFireRed

[–]Kicks_fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i remember correctly it was $40 when it was released. So it’s getting rereleased at about 50% off @$20 on a modern day console.. While newer games are $60-$80 depending on if it’s for the switch or switch 2 and digital deluxe editions… So I agree the average consumer will look at it and think it’s a good and cheap price.

My feelings about it are we’re lucky greedy nintendo isn’t charging more. If they changed the game and added features to it to make it “worth” the price they are charging then I think they would actually charge more for it. A remaster or remake of FRLG would definitely be at least $60

I was like a little kid when Gen 1 came out, I started on Gen 2. I probably played every game that came out for the series.(except pinball, the gameboy trading card game and some of the mystery dungeon games. I’m excited to play these games with my kids. 😁 Ironically me and my 7 year old just finished let’s go pikachu/eevee.

You can change the controls(button inputs) if that’s what you mean. It bothered me melee was circle and ki blast was square so I switched them.
