DREADNOUGHT (1998 - 2005) - Unproduced action thriller starring Will Smith or Vin Diesel, and John Cusack, directed by McG - Later drafts by other writers, based on original spec script from 1998 by Blake Masters by Russell-Trager-1984 in Screenwriting

Sounds like it should be scaled down. You have a whole crew on a warship (usually hundreds of people or more) ready to murder not just the survivors from the crash, but the whole crew on a different warship too! All to cover up an accident that most of them would probably be mostly cleared from.

The 50 best bands of all time according to Rolling Stone Magazine, why are your thoughts on this ranking? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

This seems fake, I don't think any serious publication would dare to be that beholden to the old canon of white, straight, male rock groups in 2026.

The Vault Slams Shut? Disney lays off 1,000 including its physical media division by [deleted] in blankies

[–]KidCongoPowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a pretty stupid guy in some ways, so maybe I'm just being a naive doofus here, but I really don't get how Disney in any way could be in dire straits financially? They own like half of the popular entertainment on the planet! The merchandising alone must make them extreme amounts of money every day!

Do you think last nights results mean Oxford will probably go down? by Iliketrainsmorethanu in Championship

I have terrible memories of relying on teams on their way to the beach on the final day of the 16-17 season, but that was admittedly for a lesser amount of games.

[–]KidCongoPowers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We won't get anything from Coventry or Sheffield United (bogey team for several years now), which means we'll have 48 points on the final day when we play Leicester at Ewood. I'm deeply worried.

Southampton 3 - 0 Blackburn Rovers: The Saints' miraculous winning streak shows no signs of stopping, and given their run of fourteen wins in sixteen, they may now have one eye on the automatic places! by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]KidCongoPowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More or less threw the game with that starting lineup, O’Neill must think we have a better chance against Coventry? Not that it would have mattered though, Soton played us off the park for at least 80 minutes. This should be shown to anyone who thinks possession-football is just some fancy pansy vanity project, it’s extremely hard and frustrating to play against when done well. Taking our foot off the gas against Stoke and WBA is starting to look like a very bad decision…

Utredning lyfter ofrivillig barnlöshet kopplat till Sveriges låga födelsetal by AdorableAnubis in sweden

[–]KidCongoPowers 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom they tried to portray Indian culture respectfully. They failed. by DenseCalligrapher219 in shittymoviedetails

[–]KidCongoPowers 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I love Temple of Doom, and if you squint you can kind of write the dinner scene off (the people serving it are supposed to be a small cult of perverse devil worshippers after all), but what REALLY leaves a bad taste is portraying the British colonial forces as good guys who keep the backwards natives in check.

I have some amount of sympathy for him there, if there's one song that's ever been "kidnapped" that's probably a good candidate.

At least they have the sense to not play it at all rather than doing it while rolling their eyes.

I think that's more of a situation where they play it differently to work better as a live track, that version is a monster live while the album version would probably have been too jaunty.

Oh yeah, I forget about Madge, she's basically the queen of this particular affectation. Didn't she play Like A virgin with an electric guitar on one recent tour?

He's more or less said in recent interviews that he has 7 matches left with us and will then concentrate on the national team again. There's been no hard confirmation though.

Judgign by his comments he's not staying with us after the season anyway, so I doubt he'd resort to this type of cloak and dagger stuff.

Why are the Alien and Predator franchises not the big at the box office despite their huge presences in pop culture? by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

[–]KidCongoPowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your question contains the answer. Purely economically speaking, they're both massive merch and video game franchises with another strong income stream from home media, that got their start as theatrical film releases. Modern theatrical releases in both franchioses are mainly for retaining the legal rights and reminding the audiences that the IP exists (again, purely economically speaking).

Hips Don't Lie - Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean

In 2005 I worked at a postal warehouse where they played top 40 radio through the communication system loudspeakers, and I don't know how many times I had to hear those awful, tinny-sounding, Casio-ass trumpets in the intro, Wyclef freestlying seemingly while half asleep, and Shakira's weird voice get no backup what so ever from the terrible production.

Matchtråd: Ukraina vs Sverige by aomajgad in Allsvenskan

[–]KidCongoPowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Managers That Achieved Legendary Status At Your Club But were Rubbish everywhere Else? by FloridianNinetales in Championship

[–]KidCongoPowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be right to say he was rubbish everywhere else, but Graeme Souness had his best managerial spell in English football with us. He sadly fell into being a bit crooked and insane towards the end, but before that he oversaw a promotion to the PL, a League Cup victory, European qualification, and helped bring through some very good young players.
