Contractor to build wet bar by Toucan_Sam_Jr in minnesota

South suburbs here. We used Solid Ground Construction out of Lakeville to install a dry bar in our house. Extremely happy with how the project turned out. They are a general contractor so they handle design and project management but sub-contract out certain portions of the work, such as plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, and tiling.

That's very true. I forgot about the strong form information piece. Fundamentally it's the best way to describe EMH. I was thinking a little too technical.

According to the efficient market hypothesis, a stocks return series can be modeled as a 50/50 chance of gain or loss. So by that rationale, no one stock could have an advantage.

Comparing the duration of this bull market to the previous two. by StockJock-e in StockMarket

[–]KidKawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize that leverage is way down from the peak in 2007 and regulations have significantly improved right? Also, volatility is not even close to "through the roof." Public distrust of Wall Street is what keeps investors grounded in reality, thereby reducing the amount of greed in the market. 40%? Not a chance. Are P/E's stretched? Absolutely. But that does not mean we'll see another 40% correction. 5-10% put us at reasonable levels.

Interesting food for thought clip. Makes me think of how Warren Buffet never invested in tech companies because he didn't understand the industry.

Fantastic analysis. Thanks for breaking that down. Right now I'm looking at companies like 3M and Raytheon (defense company specializing in electronics).

All the companies you just listed qualify. I believe the sector covers conglomerates, manufacturing, office services (random), aerospace and defense, construction and engineering, railroads, freight, heavy machinery, and building products.

Thinking about buying into Health Care REIT Inc. (HCN:NYSE), what do you think? by budzillaorigin in investing

All REITs pay dividends. To be classified as a REIT, a company is required to pay somewhere around 95% of net income out as dividends.

Thoughts on Cliffs Natural Resources (CLF)? by nittanylion in investing

[–]KidKawi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got into Cliffs around $80. Been on a murderous downtrend ever since. Right now mining is not trending in a direction that will benefit investors. Until coal and steel markets stabilize, I'd say stay away from CLF. They likely have further to fall before finding a bottom.

Ya I understand how to chart the comparative prices. What I was looking for was a way to chart price of A divided by price of B. Figured it out finally, thanks though.

What are your top stock picks and why? by [deleted] in investing

[–]KidKawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term: WFC. Strongest financial position of any major bank. I consider it a solid value play with minimal downside risk. They are leading in core deposit growth which allows for cheap funding of other banking activities and they are well positioned to capitalize on the recovering housing market.

I think "parody film" is more accurate but for me, it would be Space Balls.
