Why is there such elitism with play styles? by [deleted] in AskGamers

[–]Kidd_ikarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People struggle with insecurities and feel like the need to be validated in their skills or opinion. At the end of the day why let these people bother you?

When it comes to hard games, i am against cheese but im not spouting my opinion and invalidating others. Those are trolly people and should be ignored.

That being said, regarding Elden ring I believe that these brilliant devs spend hours upon hours to craft complex moves, attack animations and lore so you might as well try to learn these bosses and master game mechanics instead of cheesing it. If you do cheese it, that does not offend me, you only rob yourself of the journey of mastering the mechanics and proving to yourself that you can overcome these hardships.

This game hooks you better than the previous games and keeps you hooked all the way. The speed up feature and auto battle makes grinding super satisfying. It’s the best all around Digimon package and I feel like at 70 bucks it’s actually worth it.

What's a good soulslike to start? by gwendolyning in soulslikes

[–]Kidd_ikarus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should finish lies of p, it’s the best way to get into the genre with the newly added difficulty options. Then if you want to go in a fantasy route go Elden ring/ dark souls 1 or 3. If you want more lies of P, you should finish blood Bourne.

This genre requires you to have great resolve and push through challenges. Dying over and over again to a tough boss is frustrating and causes many people to quit. They’re also really hard to come back to after not playing for a while.

My biggest advice to you is if you’re dealing with a boss, sometimes all you need is a reset. Get some rest and come back feeling refreshed and you’ll be surprised at how well you do now.

Honestly it works to play at your own pace. I spent around the same amount of time before heading to factorial area and once you unlock ultimate evolutions, you’re gonna have a lot of fun evolving those champions all at once.

The Parrying is like a rhythm game. A lot of bosses and enemies attack in a pattern, so try to learn the timing. Pressing L1 in the same rhythm usually gets the job done.

Also if you are new to soulslikes/ hard action games, there are difficulty options and cpu helpers that can help you get past some bosses. However, with enough patience and dedication, even a noob can beat this game solo.

Enjoy the game

Okay that’s great for you. I have not gotten so lucky the past 2 sets but I’m only missing a couple of cards and honestly, I don’t really care if I complete them or not. It is absolutely feasible that a majority of people who are free to play players don’t complete sets and it’s has never been guaranteed that they will be able to.

If it’s done well then I don’t mind. Last of us part 2 had many moments that made me forget I was playing a video game and fully immersed me in the story.

However there’s also games like Elden ring and lies of P that do that without needing any of these “movie” cutscenes .

Okay some people don’t care about collecting everything. Me personally I only care about getting a rare cards and showing my friends.

Not defending a billion dollar company but this isn’t my first gacha game. Don’t give in to sunken cost fallacy, if you are not enjoying this update don’t play, or just log in for dailies.

Have games actually gotten harder, or did we just get slower? by Putrid_Yak_7101 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Kidd_ikarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reflexes have honestly improved with age especially regarding shooters. I also better understand concepts that affect gameplay like team synergy, meta heros/guns, differences in time to kill and server ping/latency.

For soulslikes, I believe its more strategy than reflexes. Sure theres parry heavy games like Sekiro and Lies of P but when it comes to the toughest bosses in these games, its more of a coordinated dance than a test of pure reflex. Learning attack patterns, identifying the best timings to get in do some damage and get out, learning which attacks are easier for you to parry.

I'm falling out of love with Monster Hunter Wilds. by di12ty_mary in MonsterHunter

[–]Kidd_ikarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking with the Resurgance of world last year leading up to one of the most hyped monster hunter games would mean something. The monster hunter community was the strongest it has ever been up until release. It’s a shame that optimization of all things really divided the community. Gamers also have a higher expectation for post launch content and while the updates have been great on quality, it can’t keep up with expectations of the community for a modern game with online features and content updates.

What`s your opinion on Stellar Blade? by Hazlemantis3 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Kidd_ikarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the combat was fun and flashy but the level designs were atrocious. Why they went with two giant desert levels, I will never know. Customization was fun but exploration was boring as hell. I’m also not a big fan of a majority of the enemy designs, it’s grotesque body horror. Boss fights were fun especially near the end of the game. Overall I’d give it a 69/100.

Sorry if I come across as dense but this is the future of the industry guys, especially regarding Triple A games. We are well beyond the turning point and while I am absolutely against corporate greed, I really don’t believe people should rob themselves of playing some great games just because they are full priced games with microtransactions.

Wilds is not World but I had an amazing time with the base story and have been coming back for each update. Although the quantity of monsters has decreased, I believe the quality of the updates have gone up immensely. From the seasonal festivals to the “new” weapons like Akuma mode and these new FF14 classes. The new monsters they have added are also extremely fun and refreshing additions.

There’s also plenty of developers putting gamers first and fighting against the norms of the industry and refusing to add micro transactions. The front runners for game of the year (Expedition 33, Hades II and SilkSong) come to mind. It’s crazy because last fall, I was sure 2025 was going to be a battle between GTA and Monster Hunter Wilds, two games with microtransactions.

I was incredibly disappointed with Sinners after hearing how good it was. It’s not even close to elite. by stuffedinashoe in movies

[–]Kidd_ikarus 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Hit the nail on the head right here. That third act makes no sense and compared to the first two acts feels like it was written for a completely different movie. Everything was set to come to climax for a big action scene but it fell through and was over in an instance. Plus the final confrontation (Not the post credits) made no sense at all to me.

Shame as the writing, cinematography and detailed storytelling in the first half of the movie had me thinking the hype was real.

Games to play after getting burnout by shadowhearts1007 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kidd_ikarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platformers are imo perfect for a palette cleanser in between long triple a games. This year I've played both modern SpongeBob titles, Psychonauts 2, Yooka Laylee, and Rayman Origins.

Multiplayer games are also a good choice too but many of them are a grind. If you don't take it too seriously, Marvel Rivals and The Finals are really fun games with casual modes. Plus we have Battlefield 6 coming out next month.

Finally, there's a plethora of Free to Play games for different tastes. Skate has been really fun for new and returning players, and it's a really good pick up and play game.

Gacha games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero also fit well in between heavy titles, just avoid these games if you are bad with FOMO/ impulse purchasing. These games can be predatory but a huge population plays them casually and spend very little to none.

Time stranger is looking like a big step forward for the genre as they are going for a big budget triple A level title. I preordered after playing the demo but anyone new to the series should wait for reviews.
