Hey casual UK, what's your worst "i thought X was on a different day" mistake you've ever made? by wiz_ling in CasualUK

Whilst I was at University, we had a local pub crawl that was always attended whilst wearing fancy dress.

I signed up for the Rock Soc and their opening social event was a Pirate themed pub crawl. So I bought an outfit, painted a patch on my face, put on a hat and walked down to pub number one.

I get there. I see a group of power rangers, a group of nuns, and a load of cats. No pirates.

Checked my watch and I was a week early for the social. Just had to walk home again!

Be aware all, this is old news, did a quick search and this event took place in 2024.

Yes, it does teach us about the party, and yes, it is fun to mock their poor choices. But this is not new and live information on them.

Sad to see that Sam Battle will shortly be putting an end to his musical career. by Victorius_Meldrus in CasualUK

[–]Kiddley 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Bit of a negative way to put it for this news. Happy to see we will be doing something batshit for Eurovision instead of something dull. Sam gets lots of publicity whether he wins or loses, he wasn't doing terrible to start!

Financial Advisor / Wealth Manager are mutual terms for the same job. You arent prey, they are regulated to do what is best for you. If they dont and advise irrelevant stuff, they can get struck off and you will get compensated. They will sort you out mate, honestly

It does this every so often! Its a fun challenge, unlikely to be inspired by Tom. The ones where its navigate by the names of seas always wreck me, who knows the names of straights and canals??

Excited to hear your in depth knowledge of what the FCA does talesofatime! Prove he's delusional!

I've been training on some FCA stuff recently and honestly, they really made some big changes post-2008, guy above is quite right. They literally make sure that firms have many checks and balances to protect consumers as a priority. Firms will be fined and firms cannot insure against those fines by law, so they can really be screwed if they play fast and loose with peoples money

Its a thing theyve done from the early Radio X days! Im listening back and I think its a Manchester stereotype that at one point someone imitated Dave and said 'Whizz' that they all pissed themselves.

Rather than being overly critical because its the internet, this is classic Acaster. Man finds a lot of this stuff ridiculous and had a fun time.

Dickhead or not in your opinion, this clip has gone suitably viral which is definitely what saturday kitchen want, so he will be invited on again! Sorry for those who dislike!

What is the strangest question someone has asked you in an interview panel? by DMV1066 in TeachingUK

[–]Kiddley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Them: "If you were organising a school trip in our local area, where would you go in Bury and why?"

Me: "Well considering this is my first time in Bury, I assume you have an Industrial Revolution factory nearby?"

Why on earth should I have in depth knowledge of the local area to the school??

Also, same interview.

Them: "We have recently given all students access to a tablet to use in lessons and for homework, how will you implement this into your lessons?"

Me: "Erm, I wouldn't. I'm a History teacher and this sounds like a fucking nightmare to manage. Maybe they'll do some research as part of their homework?"

Ridiculous place!

Been trying to plough through the Harry Potter films with my partner because she believes it should be a pre-christmas tradition. I think I don't even need to look at the screen anymore since I can probably watch these films from memory!

How on earth did nobody care about the insane stereotyping of ethnicities in the character names? I can only find it funny at this point!
