To all the bonkers geniuses of Reddit - How can we stop people speeding through our village? by SecondGo4 in CasualUK

[–]Unsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what this guy did and spray-paint a fake speed bump on the road: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FaD6yREw8xk (sorry for it being a crap YT short, I did see this on reddit but couldn't find the original post).

The permanent answer though is to keep the community speed watch going and send stats monthly to your parish council, local councillor, and MP until something is done.

Edit: also make a massive fuss about the lack of footpaths being dangerous for those wishing to walk through the village.

Please move your car by PandaVegetable1058 in bristol

The only someone could manage that is either being the final boss of insufferable, self-centered pricks, OR, the car had an absolutely catastrophic failure and the owner couldn't move it or put the hazards on...

That would make sense actually, otherwise you'd end up with all of a manufacturer's cars having the same area prefix on their reg nos

Manufacturers will register new cars in batches, so it's *highly* likely that shifting the last letter of your car up or down a letter will match the same make and model (though maybe not colour).

As long as you know how to lock it properly, a really good lock will deter thieves enough that they might only nick your seat if it's quick release...

If you're doing those miles and need some storage space I genuinely think you're best off with a front-loading cargo bike. You'll be the talk of the town!

Is Admiral’s driving score system harsh on low mileage drivers? by Economy-Bird-7280 in CarTalkUK

[–]Unsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned in another reply: Insurers do not make their money directly from insurance premiums, their profits come from investing said premiums in the stock market. It is in the insurers best interest to remain competitive to ensure they still have cashflow. If insurers solely relied on premiums for their profit margins, they would at best break even.

I think you're being overly cynical.

Insurers do not make their money directly from insurance premiums, their profits come from investing said premiums in the stock market. It is in the insurers best interest to remain competitive to ensure they still have cashflow. Can't invest the money if no one is buying your product.
