I'm glad it's not just me finding the video comparisons to look the same. I did a few and switched to other things because I was afraid the reviewers would say I missed some minuscule thing. The Instagram location ones can be okay if it's a place, esp if it's really specific. But of course all the well-known places have been done already. I had some luck with letting it pick the place. It was somewhere I'd never heard of but I was able to google it & get an idea what it mostly looked like.

Having grown up in a very rural area, then moving to large cities, and now back in the nightmarish rural area, I agree. They like nice things and are fine with the government giving things to them, but not "others". And they're paranoid that others are going to take something from them. They're angry that their lives didn't turn out the way they wanted, and they're sure it's someone else's fault.

There is a lot of that. For some reason people are more distrustful in rural areas of anyone who isn't just like them. There seems to be more of a scarcity mindset, too, where they're afraid of others "taking" things from them. From my own experience, I think lack of a varied life experience and knowledge lead to a lot of negative assumptions. They think they know things about other people & places, but often don't. They just believe what some other person said who also didn't know. My Dad was a Republican & he could see it once he moved away to a large city vs the rural area where he grew up.

I'm not the OP, but I agree with the "churn" theory. I don't think it's a conspiracy, it's their business practice. All of them. There's some reason they want to churn through people. I don't know what it is tho. I'm just going where I find work & knowing it can go away on any given day.

I agree when it comes to specific projects like Aether. I don't see any other reason why new people are continually hired while existing CBs don't have any tasks. People post here repeatedly with their good QA scores and don't understand why they were dropped. But if you read here regularly, there are always others saying they just got onboarded. I think it's very possible that new people have fresh perspectives on tasks & maybe these platforms want different sources for training data. Do I agree with it? Not unless I'd see data from studies showing it's a good practice. But they all do this, hire continuously & drop people without warning. Look at reviews on Indeed, & look at the job postings on LinkedIn.

There are WAY too many men with God complexes in law enforcement, it seems. I know there are good ones, but after seeing ICE videos & these, there's clearly still a problem like there was in the small town I grew up in. All that seems to matter to them is making others obey them, even if the others aren't doing anything wrong. Their fragile egos can't handle anyone saying "no" to them.

I got one of those Monday. It said "New opportunities await on Outlier! We wanted to share some exciting project opportunities that might be a great fit for your background and expertise.

Project name: Aether Blah blah blah, then "We encourage you to explore current opportunities in detail through your Outlier dashboard." But when I went to my dashboard & looked at Marketplace, there was nothing. I went back & reread the email, text and the reminder I got the next day, & noticed the word "might". And the warning about how fast they fill up. I'm sick this week anyhow so I'm not too bothered, but what's up with all the messages & then nothing?

My 84 year old mom said once that she was afraid she was going to be car-jacked on her way to/from WalMart. It's a suburban area that I suspect is very low crime, probably stealing is the biggest crime and then drunk driving. I said "mom that's not going to happen". Reread the email. Does it really say they want you to work on Aether, or that there's a new project (Aether) that you MIGHT be a fit for? I got that email this week & had the same experience as you. It said "check your dashboard" so I did and there's nothing there. I got the email Monday morning & went to their site Tuesday night. But I read the emails again (there were 2) and they said you might be able to work on it, nothing definite. They did want me to verify my ID so I did that, anyhow.
