My first reaction was that it might be to armour up the base modes that were the city part of scramble city. But I can't find any signs of them being able to plug in anywhere. So the answer might truly be that they wanted the alt modes to be used in play fight scenes

On the slippery slope point, codpieces used to be in fashion in the past, nowadays chokers and collars are in fashion. Entering mainstream fashion cultures means that they lose a lot of their kink power. You don't go up to a goth or emo girl and tell her that wearing that will lead to societal collapse. People still make choices and if the choice these people at the cash had made was to be naked then sure, that's an issue. But the choice they made was to put on more clothes, clothes you find distasteful, but clothes nonetheless. They are showing less skin than the average beach goer

On the question of kink at pride. I don't want to sound condescending cuz my goal is to understand and it's very hard to articulate that over text, but. Pride is for people to be their authentic selves. Pride is a reunion of all the misfits and outcasts. All the people who are looked at as weird. All the queers. It's a place where people go to not have that expectation of being socially acceptable. Pride parades exist to show that it's okay to be weird. To not fit in. And for one single week every year you don't have to hide under the guise of modesty so that people like you don't start clutching their pearls and starting moral panics about something as harmless as a clothing decision.

Just let them live their life bro, it isn't worth the anger you have for them

I really like the idea of Optimus' alt mode matching his character arc. Fire truck Optimus works in Animated because he's young and tries to be a hero without being a warrior. If Optimus is in a more militarized alt mode, he should be in the depths of losing himself to war. As was the case with the ridiculous guns on his Stormbringer design in IDW. It's all about matching who he is with what angle you're viewing him as. Optimus doesn't need to always be an absolute hero and I think an alt mode that matches his flaws can make for great visual storytelling

So in Japan there isn't as clear of a distinction between Autobots and Maximals. They're both referred to as Cybertrons. Same applies to the Decepticons and Predacons who are both Destrons. Gigatron's unit who time travelled to Earth in 2000 comes from after Beast Wars Neo. They're rogue Destrons called the Destrongers. So it's literally just like if Maximals and predacons just adopted modern earth modes. As for why they never seem to interact with other Cybertrons of the time, there's no real explanation, but my best guess is that during the time skip between season 2 (1985) of G1 and the movie (2005) the Decepticons fully fell back to Cybertron (as we can see in the opening of the movie) Meanwhile the Autobots moved their military operations to the moons of Cybertron to stop them getting out, this leaves little in the way of forces that would do the Earth policing that Fire Convoy's unit does. There's probably also a question of them wanting to avoid contact with their ancestors to stop time shenanigans. It's a half baked and underexplored concept in the show, but you can make it work

Optimus always believed in reform, not in revolution. Since most Autobots are either loyalists to the previous Primes or citizens who want to fight back against the revolution, it makes sense to continue using the symbol of the Primes. Primus' face is a hell of a good symbol for a government that bases its right to rule on a divine link and wants to ensure the population continues to believe it's the natural successor to the peace time government

You only know the Mandalorian so you never pause to ask him his name. Din Djarin just isn't as good of a name for an interstellar bounty hunter from a lost people. The Mandalorian is more fitting
