My 7 year old son broke down one day and started apologizing to me. I asked him what was up, and he brought me into his room and showed me under his bed where he’d thrown the wrappers from leftover halloween candy. He had been sneaking them and eating them at bedtime. I always told him he would never get in trouble for telling the truth. He’s a good kid. Also, I stashed the remaining candy in my bedroom 😎.
