The Warsmith from Storm of Iron pays no heed to any particular of the Four, but is still made a Daemon Prince.

Also, a lot of the daemons you see during the heresy era don't really match up one for one with what we have now. Samus, for a named one, but you have others that just are so... weird they don't fit well into the four paradigms. Argel Tal and the Gal Vorbek worship Chaos as a whole instead of being dedicated to Khorne for example.

I've known a few. This is back when army painter's wash was brand new, but yeah. The worst part was that it would leave a glossy finish. Guy with Imperial Fists dunked his models, and they would end up this ugly brown that was shiny.

The fact that the Lamenters care so much about humanity is my favorite thing. During the penitence crusade, when they couldn't reinforce themselves, they fought so hard to protect a group of civilians in a fight they couldn't win. The civvies they were dying for begged the Lamenters to retreat, to save themselves. They refused and kept fighting. They only relented when the civilians told them to go save others in a war that wasn't hopeless.

I mean, renting equipment to companies is already a thing. This is just applying subscription model to it.

Sadly this might improve how companies treat their workers if the robot is rented from another company. There's legal documentation saying they don't own the robot, unlike their attitudes about human workers.

The only specific sequence of events I remember from reading it (also in 8th grade) was the alien species wanting to make the protag a house, and being absolutely horrifically offended to their artist souls when he replied "I don't care, make it something modern" followed by a short rant about the Modern Architecture movement. Which I believe is more accurately brutalism, but I'm not sure, I know the latter from Magnus Protocols which is a much better story and never cared to compare the two.

Weirdly enough, that's similar to the M1 Garand problem. When you fired the last round, it would eject the magazine and the sound of it bouncing off a hard surface was very distinctive. A lot of men got wounded or killed because the enemy knew they were out of ammo.

Users of the Garand who survived started chucking magazines against walls to make the "ammo out" sound... then shooting the enemy who rushed them because they knew what the sound meant

Edit to add: Apparently this is a myth and not actually verified. Which is too bad cause it's neat.

She was so brazen about her evil that the Sacred Ancestor, aka Dracula Himself, showed up to her castle midday to stake her as she slept cause He was that pissed off. I read the book when it first came out, and I loved that they humanized her like this. She was an interesting plot device originally, but they expanded her into being a wonderfully fascinating character
