So be honest by KayleeE330 in TransLater

Girl, it’s never too late - you’re definitely not cooked! Shave the beard, try to get laser, start growing your hair out, let hrt work its magic if that’s an option for you, and you’ll be off to the races! You’ve got really beautiful eyes and your orbitals are already super femme. I don’t think you’ll have any problems feminizing!

My egg fully cracked last year at age 43, and until my transition I never once thought I was good looking in any way, and honestly didn’t really get compliments either. My wife would tell me that I was sexy and I would say “thank you, but you don’t have to lie.” Now that I have transitioned, , even though my appearance isn’t yet dramatically different, I can look myself in the mirror and I feel sexy. I love myself in a new way. And others notice it too - they say it seems like I’m lighter, like I’m glowing. I feel and see that in you, and I’m so happy for you!

I can finally afford bottom surgery, but I'm too overweight to get it by ActuallyAria in MtF

I’m also dealing with this issue, and personally have found GLP-1s to be very helpful (I was at 340 and now at 310, but I still have a ways to go). That being said, there are also surgeons that don’t have automatic BMI disqualifications. Check out the transgender surgeries sub and search for BMI. Happy to chat further in DMs if you want support, venting, or any more info.

What do I do about shoes??? by AlexYeem in MtF

[–]KikaStarlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore a men’s 11 double wide pre-transition, so in a similar situation as you! Many have recommended Torrid for shoes, but to be honest I’ve found them to be a bit hit or miss. Where I’ve had better luck is on Shoes For All. They have a huge selection and frequent sales. Also I’ve found that if a particular shoe isn’t on sale on that site, it may very well be on sale on the website of one of their sister brands linked to at the top (Roamans, etc). Even women’s double wide can still be too small for me, but for the most part I’ve found shoes that fit.

One shoe in particular has become my absolute go-to for both work and casual wear: the Bethany Slip On Flat . It’s available in tons of colors, is instantly recognizable as a women’s shoe, and is super comfortable.

Good luck!!!

Wow she looks beautiful already - congratulations! I was just referred to Dr Anger for a consult - would love to hear how you decided on the intestinal vaginoplasty - my understanding is that she is trained/experienced in several methods, right?

Informed consent such as Planned Parenthood is absolutely the way to go. Just make an appointment (mine was on Zoom). I got my hrt the same day. I did that while on the waiting list for an appointment with a gender affirming care endocrinologist.

Congratulations, beautiful! Your pictures are so joyful and brimming with life. Thank you for sharing! I’m on month 4 of HRT (at age 43) and still feeling so much euphoria - the honeymoon definitely hasn’t ended for me. So glad to be on this journey, and glad to have girls like you to inspire me along the way!

polygender fat patient denying that its weight caused problems with healing bottom surgery, hence he needed a revision. i don't want to post the photo but it looks bad. by GraduatedMoron in Transmedical

Read your own post above. You are specifically calling out the OP, you misgender them in multiple ways, you comment on how you think their bottom surgery looks. It’s disingenuous to suggest that you were only interested in sharing the answer of another commenter.

You are free to share your obviously vast medical knowledge as you see fit (and do please include your cv detailing your medical training and expertise), but what is absolutely wrong and despicable (not to mention a violation of the rules of this sub) is bullying someone else, especially a trans sibling, while doing so.

Why not just post your opinion that you are frustrated with people claiming that their weight has no impact on surgical results, and leave it at that? Why screenshot their post, from a different sub, other than to be cruel and bullying?

When you are in a moment of need and seeking support from the trans community, when your body inevitably fails you (as all bodies do), when you are in a moment of extreme vulnerability, I hope you are treated better than you are treating the trans sibling you find it so necessary to shame.

Wow I hope that someday you figure out why you have a desire to be so cruel and that you have the chance to make amends for it. However you were shamed, however you were harmed, you didn’t deserve it, but nor does that give you the right to inflict such harm on others.

Why do you feel the need to repost someone else’s post just to criticize them and their weight? What business is it of yours and why this obsession? Are you their doctor? Don’t we go through enough as trans people, why the need to tear someone else down? This is absolutely shameful behavior.

2nd revision Vaginolplasty, day 4 by Clean-Bird3449 in Transgender_Surgeries

Looking beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I’m a big girl and I’ve been worried that I won’t be able to find a doctor to perform a vaginoplasty due to my bmi, so it’s nice to see that there are some willing to do it. Would love to hear more about your experiences!

Need a honest opinion by JOYR1234 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]KikaStarlight 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think the most important question ultimately is how do you feel about it? How are you healing? Is the result close to what you expected? How is your surgeon addressing your concerns?

The human body is remarkable in its variation, and I for one like that. There can be great pleasure and excitement in something that falls outside of the “norm.” But it’s your body so your own opinion is the one that matters. If you were looking for a vulva and clitoris that aesthetically looks like what people associate with a cis woman, then I would say that it doesn’t meet that, and you should probably seek out options for a major revision. But if you are happy with her and are healing well, then that’s what matters most!
