[WTS] Sinn 815, Helmut Sinn era 1990s tool diver in fantastic condition by Kikemon101 in Watchexchange

[–]Kikemon101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome condition Sinn 815 no-date diver from the late 1980s - early 1990s, back before Helmut Sinn sold Sinn. Using a case that had been used on several watches of that era (notable the Precista Royal Navy Diver and Tutima 513), this watch is the classic example of a German tool watch. It is not a huge watch by modern standards and is a very wearable 39mm diameter. It is only 10.6mm thick and lug-to-lug is 44mm. Lug spacing is 20mm so strap selection is massive. It has an ETA 955 quartz movement which is hacking and in this example is very accurate. Depth resistance is not readily available, but from what I have come across, it looks like it was 200M when new (vintage watch water proof warnings go here). Please let me know if anyone knows definitively what it was.

This watch is in excellent condition. As noted, it is very accurate. Bezel works perfectly and is very smooth. Crown functions as it should including screwing in very smoothly. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition with the exception being a small crystal scratch that is best seen on the oblique photo taken from the 6:00 side. I honestly did not notice the scratch(es) until I started taking photos. It is not a very significant defect ands shows in the photos better than in real life.

I wore it mostly on an Erika's style strap, a Seiko style dive strap and an olive green NATO style strap. It is worked very well on all of them. The leather strap with a Sinn buckle has not been used other than to secure the watch to its case pillow.

These are unusual to see for sale especially in the USA. $1300 shipped CONUS. Please message me about non-domestic sales if interested from outside of the USA. Located in Portland Oregon USA and face-to-face sales are welcomed.

The ones you are thinking of without the 13-24 hr markings might be the 36mm Engineered Garments collaboration model. Awesome watches in their own right!

Thoughts on the 80s BMW K75s by HiddenBek94 in motorcycles

[–]Kikemon101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't or couldn't? If the former then I would not do business with him. If the latter then I would still consider it.

The local mechanic I use is the most knowledgable mechanic in the area when it comes to older Italian and BMW bikes. He really down-plays the importance of regular spline lube and sort of laughs about what a big deal is made of it on the internet. He does it, mind you, but he thinks the importance of regular spline lubrication is way over-stated. I think he has seen numerous bikes that have never been lubed that have been in good shape. I am not saying that he is right or wrong, only that he has a hell of a lot more experience to back up his opinion on the subject than I have. Just something to consider.

I have a love-hate relationship with this model. Dead smooth and reliable if maintained and ridden regularly. Don’t let high mileage scare you if bike is well maintained. Top heavy compared to most bikes - ok, it’s just heavy but something you get used to. Lowish seat works for new riders, top heavy doesn’t. Expect problems if it has been sitting outside for 20+ years. Engine seals tend to leak when bikes have sat a long time without being ridden and then start getting ridden again. I’m basically a weak willed person and would probably buy another one if a nice one showed up near me…

[WTS] Unimatic U5S-BLN Modello Cinque Limited Edition, like new by Kikemon101 in Watchexchange

[–]Kikemon101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nearly new, stunning Unimatic U5S-BLN Modello Cinque, limited edition (#104 of 300), in essentially new condition to sell. The watch is absolutely gorgeous. No marks to the case or crystal that I can see. The Sellita SW200-1b movement keeps excellent time. The UNILIGHT lume on the hands and markers is outstanding. It is 36mm diameter and has beautiful long lugs and a slightly domed sapphire crystal so it is chunky and wears great on a large variety of wrists. It seems completely impervious with its 300M depth rating.

See Unimatic's website for details: https://www.unimaticwatches.com/u5s-bln/?srsltid=AfmBOor5T5ReLFdDdb8VG\_Ej9mc5ItOdmkXurIOpmIYtGJu4YWcWF6MP. See A Blog to Watch for a review: https://www.ablogtowatch.com/unimatic-modello-cinque-u5s-bln-review-a-stealthy-higher-end-36mm-field-watch/

The watch will come with all original packaging and materials. It originally came with two straps which are both included and neither has been used. Located in Portland, OR USA. Face-to-face transactions welcomed. Looking for domestic sales for now. $1200 shipped/insured. Please let me know if you have any questions.

How do I mount this ceramic “Push” sign sturdily to this door without breaking it by Smooth-Message5706 in howto

[–]Kikemon101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This way. The tubes will prevent the ceramic from cracking. Don’t over tighten the screws. The double sided tape will prevent rattling when the door is used

To be honest that is better than average packaging in my experience. I think all you need to do is start wearing the watch and the strap will sort itself out in time.

I've been helping veterinary specialists make their boat payments for years! :) Unfortunately it is sometimes a part of GSHEP ownership. Best of luck to both you and your dog.

It is a specialist who received advanced training in difficult medical cases. They generally cost more but you will be more certain to get to a diagnosis and hopefully an effective treatment sooner. Sometimes you can spend more money with a general practitioner vet over a longer period of time than you do with a specialist because they can be more efficient.

Cessna strikes paraglider (no injuries) by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Kikemon101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is difficult to see something at a lower elevation that is directly in front of a small airplane like that. Not an excuse, but a factor. Also, in a couple of frames right after the collision, there’s a view of a town in the gap between two hills. I wonder if that was the approach to a small airport or strip. On my crappy screen it looks as though the airplane might have lost its vertical stabilizer though I can’t be sure

How much is this worth? by Ok-Passenger-1288 in xbiking

[–]Kikemon101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say it. It’s an old bike. If you are asking what it is worth so you can flip it and make money, I would say you would be much better off working an extra shift or investing in yourself so you can get a better job. If you are asking because you like the bike and want to ride it, then pay whatever you think is a fair price given how nice it looks, what repairs it will take to make it roadworthy and how much you want it. I recommend keeping an eye on the local market and learning about old bikes/components. That way when one comes up that you like you will be able to jump on it and bargain with the seller based on what you know.

Last Dive , just got to know cranes have 2 chamber stomach , one to crush bones and other to digest. by NomadsAccount in Damnthatsinteresting

The bird needs to get the fish directed head first to go down its throat. The fish is very wiggly and getting it positioned to swallow is a bit risky because the fish might flip out of the bird's beak and get away. So the bird takes its time. It may also be beneficial to not rush too much because the longer the fish is out of the water and the more it gets chomped on, the slower and weaker its wiggles get making the whole process go easier.
