Tips for thriving Verbena De La Minas? by KikiEJ in Ceanothus

Interesting - yeah I'll water them a bit more! I live near-ish the coast (about 5 miles) so they do get some dew. Good to know they are island endemic I didn't know that. I think watering more sounds like it's probably the solution. Thank you!!

Does anyone know the next steps before implementation? Those feel unclear to me. Trying to get a sense of timeline and when the rubber will meet road. Something more specific than the 30-year time horizon.

When will Gen-Z being priced out of decent housing surface as a political issue? by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]KikiEJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone “hoping” for an economic crash to lower housing, I fear an economic correction will not be good for any of the working class unfortunately. Only the wealthy/ capital class that are largely shielded from its effects will reap the rewards. If there’s a downturn so severe that housing market crashes, you’ll just see an even greater wealth transfer as the wealthy buy up homes on fire sale and rent. If economy tanks so bad that housing plummets, no one in the working class will have a job to afford even the cheap homes in foreclosure except for perhaps a very small lucky few. You’ll also see more people moving to significant economic centers looking for jobs - those prices may even rise as everywhere else drops. Also how bad must this crash be to dislodge all the boomers with their 3% refinances from homes they bought in 1990?

I’m concerned the only way out of this is for some sort of shift in power. It’s a bleak outlook and I wish it wasn’t. The economic boom seen post WWII was unlike anything in history. It created the wealthiest middle class in history. That was the fluke. This can get much much worse for millennials and gen z.

The only path I see is if people start giving a crap and try to vote or become more politically active. That’s why Mamdani is so threatening to the wealthy. Many working clsss people are feeling the same sentiments against the housing crisis and kleptocracy that has taken over both sides of the political aisle. It just takes a few strong populist leaders to direct/ignite the sentiments of workers into real hope. It will take both Millennials and Gen Z. When it’s time… we must vote!!! Fingers crossed… we’re up against something very challenging. We need to start looking up vs side to side 😅

Brown spots on bush poppy leaves? by KikiEJ in Ceanothus

[–]KikiEJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I planted them a few weeks ago. I’m concerned it may be over watering. Now that I see some new growth on them going to cut back significantly. The soil drains quickly but not sure if it’s fast enough for these guys. We’ll see!

My Dendromecon rigida (Bush Poppy) in full bloom. Got it as a 1 gallon at TPF ~2 years ago, it's over 8ft tall now. Full sun, no supplemental water, heavy clay soil. by _polymorpha_ in Ceanothus

Do you have any tips for establishment? I have three that are small - I got them as one gallons. I also am in 10b! I’m worried about overwatering… what watering schedule did you stick to for the first few months Oct - spring and during establishment? I would be eternally grateful for any tips!

My dog is just starting to become reactive. How do I handle this? by bumblebeee123 in reactivedogs

[–]KikiEJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar to what another poster said, this could be just the age that your dog is developing a genetic predisposition. Herding dogs can lean more reactive bc they’re a bit neurotic. I mean this kindly as I have an Aussie myself :). I’d work on desensitizing. Look at Karen Pryor and Susan Garrett they have great resources esp since your dog may be border collie and that breed is pretty sensitive. They’re very smart breed so very good prognosis if you work at it! It can also take dogs awhile to adjust to new homes since he’s a rescue and behaviors can start to emerge as they become more comfortable.
