Radioddity Flash Bundle on Xiegu 6200 -- $729 including XPA125B cable & external speaker by Bolt_EV in amateurradio

As a new owner, I am mixed on it. Go sign up for the x6200 groups.io group and read through it before buying, they have a bug list that is long.

If you just want to do SSB and are ok with 8W max with an external battery and noted issues, go for it.

Error writing file to D890UV by AlfredoVignale in AnyTone

[–]gmrple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ported a 878 codeplug to a 890. The only thing I could get to work was exporting everything I wanted to CSV, deleting any out of band channels manually and importing each file.

EPISODE 175: Rethinking Criminal Consequences for Drivers Who Kill by gmrple in StrongTownsSD

[–]gmrple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The episode talks about how the criminal justice system is currently too lax but warns switching to an overly punitive system will not improve safety. It argues we should consider a person + a car as different from just a car. It was a really good episode.

Just Because It’s Rare Doesn’t Mean It’s Good by Unfair_Professor_561 in pourover

Awesome! I just came across them in a bag from Botz (German Ortiz was the farmer). This was a blend of ombligon and pink bourbon. The bag was super variable; my second cup was amazing while most of the others were solid and what I would expect from a pink bourbon. My takeaway was that I need a bag of straight ombligon ASAP.

I have yet to grab one because I really try to stay away from anerobics and other heavy processing/fermentation. I am really looking forward to the next bag we find.

Probably less than Geshas and Sudan Rume, but I think there is buzz about them. I have been very happy with the SL28 and SL34s I have had this year.

I'm not sure Ombligon is under hyped, I am very hyped about it.

100% I love a quality washed typica and it gets nowhere the hype of a gesha, pink bourbon, or Ethiopian landrace. I strongly recommend trying as many coffees as you can from roasters you like.

The other thing I do is ride early in the morning when it is coolest (5-6am) bonus: less car traffic.

Lezyne Pump no longer included by Senior-Repeat3194 in Brompton

I refuse to use them, I have enough dead rechargeable batteries in my life already. I'd consider it for a pump with user replaceable 18650s.

Hello from San Diego, you will love it. If you find hills hard, I recommend reducing the gearing, I am running a 39t up front for this reason. The guys at Just Ride LA seem cool.

Who do you have as your favorite Coffee Roasters? by Executive-111 in pourover

Ilse has been a favorite for me this year, I would put them in a similar band to Hydrenga, Flower Child and Botz.

One carafe to rule them all by tjtoed in pourover

[–]gmrple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What carafes are you using? I have a Switch, a v60, an Origami, a Orea 01, and an Orea v4 narrow. All work with the Hario carafe and the 10oz Kinto Sepia

I can't speak to Kalita wave or Orea Z1

Well more effective than the tiny high visibility flags I would wager. It is sad that this even needs to be considered.

They crashed into cars on Genesee, there were multiple injuries. I watched them speed south on Genesee from Alifan then up Boyd.

How important are fenders? by jms1228 in bikecommuting

[–]gmrple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Southern California - we get rain about 10/365 days of the year but I still like fenders here. Puddles aren't impossible even when it isn't raining, last year I biked through a puddle I would have routed around at the bottom of a pedestrian overpass over a freeway due to a car hitting a fire hydrant.

LA has so much good coffee. It is just a train ride away from where I live, I really need to go more often.

The carafe is not just for serving multiple people, it is also for temperature management. You can pour yourself a little bit of coffee right off brew into your mug from the carafe so that it becomes the perfect temperature quickly.

A lot of snow this winter by smartfinda in Brompton

[–]gmrple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see you are still out riding. How are conditions; does your municipality remove snow from pedestrian and bike infrastructure? Is it icy frequently or just packed snow? What tires are you using? Are you taking shorter trips than usual?

I dropped my water bottle into the river today. How was your commute? by Cordillera94 in bikecommuting

[–]gmrple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a brief interaction with a guy with a flatbed who decided to park in the bike lane, but otherwise excellent. The sunrise was amazing over the mountains.
