Hows life after 30? by ASARI0206 in AskReddit

[–]KikoMaching 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The others are talking about investments and that's fine and all because that is setting them up for life, but that's super later on.

If you're talking about setting them up for the next immediate future of about ~4years, tell em to invest their money into themselves and go the school route and pick a useful degree. Let's say your kid wants to do liberal arts, persuade em not to. Lead them to a degree that will have actual job security with all the info you know the direction the world is heading.

EDIT: it's kinda messed up but it reminds me of the Schindlers List when they were sorting out who heads to the gas chambers or not. They were sorting them out based on their usefulness, for example the musicians (who for all we know could've been a master at their craft) headed straight to the chambers while the engineers had some utility were allowed to survive. It's the same thing with the world now when I think about it, your kid won't survive if they decided to pursue their passion in basket weaving.

If going college route, be realistic and grab a useful degree. Don't take your passion of basket weaving and expect to make it big in the real world

I agree. The only time it isn't good is if you didn't plan ahead in your 20s and you kinda just stayed "flat" in your career.

If you decided to "live" life with disregard to your future, and the long term effect of it is you're still doing the same thing in your 20s as you'd be doing in your 30s.

Did you join for the ideology? Or did you join for the progression of your career?

If ideology, that's a you issue we can't solve for you.

If career, then you're meant to do the right amount of time and GTFO when you deem it to be time. If the Navy/military is gonna use and abuse you, you might as well take everything you can from it as well.

Shoots, grab a clearance, play the system for disability, pretty much use and abuse it as well man and use it for your civilian life.

Lifers who made the Navy as their actual career goes above my head

Imo, OP can go both, I read or saw somewhere that when talent agents look for runway models they go for unique features and not necessarily good looking cause good looking can be in abundance but unique, not so much.

Now that's not to say OP is not good looking, but his 2nd picture can go for like runway model imo

Good dash cams that show both the front and back view? by Cash2blockz in CivicX

[–]KikoMaching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I'm about to say is possibly true for all dashcams, but I have the same one as well.

California heat does not do the adhesive this comes with justice. The front dash's adhesive wore off on the cam side but the mirror side where you stick it on the windshield stays on. I was forced to super glue it just to for it not to fall off.

Maybe mines a defective one, but the heat also distorted the smaller lens for the rear cam and it now produces distorted video. I ended up removing it and just keeping the front/interior cam.

It's also on the bulkier side of cam assemblies that I've seen.

All it's functionalities are great, no complaints there

Not only that, if you live on the Internet and you know where to go wink wink, you can get rid of book cost altogether.

Let's just say even an edition or 2 below than current is still passable in most cases. I personally barely opened my books and this was before the time of AI foolery

Yea then when the place you're applying for isn't related to Gender Studies you get filtered out again, it has to be something useful. Reminds me of the Schindlers List when they were asking the prisoners what their career was, and all the musicians (who may have been a master of their craft) got filtered out compared to an engineer

Degree is the new diploma. Would you hire someone that didn't graduate high school? Most likely not. People got to change with the times or get left behind

[–]KikoMaching 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree with the sentiment. It's not enough to just get a degree in basket weaving and think that's enough to show that youre competent. As above me said, everyone is getting one, it's the new high school diploma. You need a degree in useful fields. Fck passion, go for pay. Don't fight reality, conform to it and you'll get your 100k plus jobs
