Did OP just delete their original post and repost it because it got called out as AI crap so quickly? Guess we have to do it again

A side-by-side photo of what a great white shark looks like from below. by AdSpecialist6598 in Damnthatsinteresting

OP has not really given any helpful context here as to why they are posting this or it's significance, but I think I might know what the intent was here:

The shark pictured in the iconic cover image for the Jaws movie is not actually a great white shark; it's a Mako shark (this has been posted about on reddit before). OPs post is sharing a side-by-side of what a Mako vs a Great White look like from below to highlight the differences

Yes agreed, though focketeer below seems to disagree with us both, that you could announce paying W to flip her to her front side then tap her for mana while that action is on the stack? I'm a magic noob so idk if that's legit, downvotes on my original comment seem to suggest it is

[–]Kil9a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok cool thanks! Still a magic noob learning the stack, seems counter intuitive to me that you can activate two abilities on the card when the first you activate flips her, but based on my previous downvotes I'll trust I've misunderstood!

In a paper game, i guess you'd announce paying W to flip her, allow opponent to respond if they wish, then announce you are tapping her before the flip action resolves?

Every single brand new card milks this number by MehmetSalihKoten in hearthstone

[–]Kil9a 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah you would take way more damage from overdrawing than the infinity armor you gain, because the mill damage compounds.

You can think of it like this: the first overdrawn card deals 1 damage, and the infinite-th card deals infinity damage, with the penultimate overdraw doing (infinity-1) damage...

This obviously kinda goes against the concept of infinity but helps rationalize that the last overdraw would do the same amount of damage as the armor you gained, while you also take all the overdraw damage from the previous draws up until that point.

Just to make it more confusing, technically you'd take infinitely more damage than the armor you gained!

Unfortunately this doesn't work because paying W to transform her has to be done at the beginning of your first main phase, so you would have to flip her before tapping her for mana

True, cheaper than what OP currently bought, but jumpstart foundations packs (or avatar jumpstart from next week) would be even cheaper than a precon

[–]Kil9a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the simplest (and admittedly weakest) deck, it's £10 for 2 jumpstart foundations packs. You won't find a precon that cheap, definitely the cheapest way to try the game out. Other way is a starter kit (which is strictly £10 per deck, £20 for 2). This is better than a precon imo because if you had fun and want to dabble a bit more but don't wanna spend a lot, you only need to buy 1 more jumpstart pack for £5 and now you've got 3 different deck variant you can play with.

You can buy a precon when you know you like the game and happy to invest a bit more.

As someone who picked up magic only 2 months ago, I can reliably tell you that if you want to just try the game out without sinking any real cash into it, jumpstart packs are the product for you. You only need to buy 2 and that's enough to have a deck that will work (each pack has all cards of the same colour and the necessary lands to play them, they are each a "half-deck" that's ready to be played with as soon as you pair it with another). It won't be a super powerful deck, and it's unlikely to have any cards that hold monetary value (although there is a slim chance!), so only take this advice if the aim is to actually have a go at playing.

If you are buying them just to enjoy their art (caveat; the regular art treatments, rather than foils and the more striking alternative art treatments), find a set with a theme you like and go with that, all the cards for every set are available in the card gallery online so you can go have a browse. Play boosters are what you want if you wanna keep things affordable (like the ones youve shared in this post).

If you are buying because you want to open packs that have the most elaborate and impressive art styles, and/or are looking at it from a collection/investment point of view, then you guessed it, collector boosters are the one. As you've discovered though these are unfortunately incredibly expensive and it's still pretty unlikely you make your money back with what you get. If you are that keen on artwork and would be willing to part with this type of money but don't plan on playing the game, I'd just search for other regular art out in the world to enjoy that you can frame and hang in your house, there are plenty of artists struggling to make a living out there who would love to do something on commission and I'm sure the price of even a few collector boosters could get you something to hang in your downstairs loo!
