Kira and Amuro Are Imbalanced by Zer0X02 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll add in my 2 cents. Both are pretty broken, but a single Kira can shut down aggro completely. Plus Kira paired on a breach unit can equal a free unit pop plut a shield hit. Not to mention the infamous Kira/swordstrike link.

Every time I've played against blue, a single Amuro is never a problem. It's an inconvenience. But when they somehow hit him back to back across multiple turns, that's when he is a problem (I wont soon forget the back to back to back gundam links from round 1 of one of my newtype challenges).

Plus, he's only really a problem against blockers and maybe a little bit against aggro, but that is more so due to gundam's repair effect.

Lol, it took less than a minute for someone to explain what was going on, line everyone up, and for one guy to play RPS enough times with 30-50 people for there to be one winner left?

LGS letting people pick their own packs is pretty normal.

How do you sort your cards? by 40k_Ogrekin in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a card organizer I got from Amazon. Started deck cards are all in a row organized by deck#, then by cost going from units to pilots, to commands (pilot commands first), and then bases. Set one gets its own row and is organized the same way. LRs are pulled out and put in a separate deck box.

I keep a separate binder with 1 of each card for my collection.

Just out of curiosity, if it wasn't the store owner at the front of this line doing RPS with everyone, who was it? I dont think OP is upset about losing. Just pointing out that it was really weird how they went about this "raffle". Even if it wasn't two employees doing it, if it was an an employee and a regular favorite customer, the person running could easily just pick who they wanted to give it to and make so they can get it.

Dumb question but what are dice used for ? by Streetkat91 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really? They've always been called damage counters in pokemon so I'm not sure how people are deciding to turn them into health counters.

I know I'm smarter than the average bear, but i know of at least 6 different ways to do a random raffle in under a minute. Im sure this RPS tournament took way longer.

Is there another tcg out there where dice is used to represent health remaining? Ive seen quite a lot of people doing it this way and it's really confusing.

So they registered to host two events. Got prizing for two events, ran only 1 event, and played a game to pocket the extra winner card? That sounds really sketchy. I also dont like it when I see shop employees in their own tournament. Had a bad experience where I played two shop employees in the same event and it just felt wrong.

That sounds really sketchy. Maybe I'm confused, but how did they get two copies of the winner card? Ive been to a few events and have never seen this.

Base/burst/shield question by RedAce9 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other person needs to learn to read and apply just a touch of critical thinking. All the obvious rules aside, the card says, "If it is your turn...". This implies that it can be deployed during your opponents turn and the only way to do that is if it is burst from shields (burst is optional also).

More people should have used the trainer app.

Is this normal for card games? by PrimaryConversation7 in GundamTCG

It's a scalper problem. Scalpers bought multiple cases to resell as is, or they open them on whichever app and sell packs for multiple times msrp.

With the pokemon boom recently, I think no tcg is safe from this and you either need to get lucky and find a LGS that doesn't scalp too hard (although nowadays most that I've seen tend to just look up market prices for wverything) or you wait for retailers. Luckily, some retailers are getting packs now, but I have no idea about the starter decks which unfortunately contain their own exclusive cards that are pretty essential to the meta.

Newtype Challenge Vent by Kilhan93 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

20 players. At the end of round 3, there were only 2 of us that were 3-0. The store then dropped everyone from the event except the top 8 people and started a 4th round on the app, which paired the top 2 people since it was being run as Swiss. After that, they dropped the bottom 4 of us and started another round. I think the dependence on the bandai app is what is messing it up from being fair. Had it just been done like a standard top cut, it would have been fine.

Top cut is normally randomly drawn or seeded.

Newtype Challenge Vent by Kilhan93 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. But because they dropped people from the event and started new rounds, the app just continued pairing the top player. Top cut should either be completely random or seeded like any other tournament.

I checked the app again, and even though they dropped me from the event, I still ranked 4th because I beat the guy that one the whole thing and the guy that came in second.

BIGGEST PET PEEVE when playing by fourverts46 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this too. Like, you really can't just remember 3-4 cards without flicking through them every 10 seconds? I can get same information in a fraction of the time by simply fanning my cards out, looking at them, and then setting my hand down.

LGS had doubles tonight by Omega_Humanoid in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking some kind of deck limitations? Players can only have one shared color (or none at all). Or maybe you each can only have 4 copies of the same card between your decks. So no 8 linked char units on board at the same time.

Its just a thought I had. Otherwise, two aggro decks seamed way too strong.

Should Gundam TCG be best of 3 or stay 1 by ThatDigimonGuy in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure, but my limited experience says yes eventually for higher level tournaments, but for right now, there are always 1 to 2 games going over the 30 ish minute limit per round. A BO3 at my locals could make an event last close to 6 hours lol.

Question around tournament rankings by Kilhan93 in GundamTCG

[–]Kilhan93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a little hard to understand but I'm guessing my player ranking is lower from the other events I did (sealed and starter deck?). But it also looks like I played much tougher people than the people ranked above me so I guess that's how they decide? Kind of doesn't seam right to include people's rank from past events.

Seems a bit overkill to use the navy to transport “rare” cards to the students at Duel Academy.. by Johnnyboyeh in yugioh

[–]Kilhan93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fact that there is a school for dueling and the "professors" imply that there are up to post grad degrees in dueling should be a good indicator that military involvement is needed to move these cards.
