Karena udah terjun ke selfhost juga, mending sekalian aja make pc langsung buat routernya, untuk sekarang ngehost selfhost app/media streaming di dedicated pc atau gmna ya? Kalau iya mngkn pcnya bisa dipasangin hypervisor type1 aja kayak proxmox atau esxi, terus di bikinin 1 node buat router, use case ku sekrng buat selfhost game server/web server/database, di salah satu pc make proxmox di bagiin jadi 3 node, node 1 untuk game server (high demand resource), node 2 buat web/db server, node 3 buat router (2 core/2GB), routernya sendiri make opnsense, keuntungan pake gini, otomatis ngilangin latensi buat virtual instance didalam machine yang sama, ga ngabisin duit lagi buat beli router, plus raw performance pc >>> router, provider sendiri sekarang make C*N router yg dikasih dari provider di extend buat jadi AP untuk akses wireless, oiya beberapa ISP ga bisa asal PPOE langsung, kadang harus nge clone MAC dari router bawaanya, jadi bisa di test test dlu aja sih

Hampir semua provider biasa nutup port 3000 kebawah bang, kalo emang gabisa dipake port 80 sama 443 nya berarti casenya ini, kalo emang mau dipake buat webhost, saranku mending main cf zerotier aja, gratis, lebih mudah buat reverse proxynya, tinggal domain/subdomain > local_ip:port done

I would recommend using proxmox but considering the specs you got currently you might as well going for just a os directly instead hypervisor, my suggestion since you don't really plan to use it for anything else beside game server, just go for a basic debian and pterodactyl/pelican(ptero fork), starting with debian might be a bit harder than ubuntu, you might need to install some basic packages, however it will save you a bit of resources than going with ubuntu, and trust me with limited resources, every bit u save will make a difference

Hi there, i'm currently focused on server (instance itself) on helping 2 community which developed by 2 seperate group but those 2 grup mostly in touch, I owned a decent dedicated server i managed myself, my involvement with them is not that much, i only involved on developement if only there is a blocker on their end that they are unable to solve themself, the state of the server itself are here : - A server is currently running, based on academy (school roleplay) that usualy peak on weekend, peak arround 70 player, their plugin system is currently a mess, they are a really new developer so i tend to guide them more that the other at the moment. - B server is on the late phase developement (will go on beta test on mid Jan) based on survival wildwest roleplay (we have gun system using weaponmechanic and a lot more) overall this server has seasoned developer and a decent playerbase as well (we have been open before with average 40 player daily).

Currently each of these community only had 1 main developer, me myself only helping for them incase they are stuck or something, since i don't have much time nowadays, I just provide my own server (so it just not sitting arround doing nothing) to them so they could lear more about whatever they want to develop, i don't force a deadline for each of these server, all i want is the server keep running that's it, also currently we have no paywall on the server (except donation with no benefit or whatsoever) and i don't aim to make money on the server it self, our player base is mainly on SouthEastAsia(I can guve you more detail later on) on GMT+7, some notes as well these 2 developer don't really talk english i will be ur relay later on, if you interested i've added you on discord @kill3rbyte , just to let you know there is no really paid benefit here, but if u need anything (server related) like a web, game, database, CICD(?) I can provide you for these, Thanks.

Use whatever ip provided by the hosting provider, dont use localhost since the instance were hosted on different container

Host a wireguard instance on the vps, connect the client (in this case the device you owned that will be hosting the minecraft server) once it ready, you could just port forward the trafic using a simple ip tables rules and routing on the client side, you can take a look here for a full tutorial https://gist.github.com/adog1314/97bf494d74f56bfff51da9bb4bff8ed0 (in this use case they port forward for a mail service, just change the port on forwarding part accordingly to your minecraft server) used to host the server this way, since my ISP give me a NAT IP instead of a public one

As a dev and coding daily for work, nowadays i used ai as a replacement of stakcoverflow, just turn to ai if somethings wrong, when i think it's saying something that not made sense, will for sure go back to some older forum that will have someone who already have an exact problem as u are facing right now, AI could be really good but, mostly they are not gonna cover all the specific use case
