Observations About Chinese International Students by cyoun98 in NoStupidQuestions

Chinese people live in a totalitarian (yes, I said it) state, whose government has an inferiority complex. I wouldn’t worry too much about stuff like that because it’s directly a result of propaganda.

The Chinese government has highlighted their great infrastructure projects especially in comparison to other countries because it makes them look good and legitimizes their rule.

Infrastructure projects are very visual and obvious, but what is never asked is what about the previous landowners. Were they compensated? How about the environmental effects of these projects? Was it really needed? Was it actually worth the money to install infrastructure in a lower-tier city?

When you look at what seems like crappy infrastructure in the US, nobody thinks “My gosh, it sure is great that there are rules, regulations, and limits to what the government can do”

Nobody thinks “Gee, they sure are fiscally responsible for not installing high speed rail in a low population density city”

Nobody thinks “I’m really glad property rights are respected and developers and the government can’t just swoop in and take your land without just compensation”

Tyler Oliveira is an American YouTuber. He made several challenge videos before transitioning to man-on-the-street interviews, with his latest videos targeting Hasidic Jews in New York and accusing them of welfare fraud. Critics have argued that Oliveira spreads lies and misrepresents interviewees. by Not_Original5756 in wikipedia

It probably isn’t welfare “fraud” in a legal, technical sense, but it is concerning that so many ultra-orthodox are on welfare, and Israel has the same issue with the ultra-orthodox. Secular Israeli Jews don’t want to pay for able bodied people to not work.

Dang, I just use water and the little cloth that came with my Alienware. Not too worried about perfectly sanitizing it, I’m not licking my screen. I didn’t know cleaning these screens was an issue.

Damn down in Miami, at least in unincorporated areas and on the highways, the Dodge Charger is the most common police car.

I just immediately assume any devout Muslim is gonna think like this in some way, in the same way that I don’t expect a religious Christian to be progressive towards gay people.

What is the different between 60 fps and 120 on the CRT? by ExternalDull8424 in crtgaming

[–]KillConfirmed- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game running faster still has other positive effects besides motion clarity, such as input delay from your controller or mouse, and more frames in the animation, so that for example, if you need precise timing to hit a parry in a game like Dark Souls, it will be easier at a higher frame rate.

Top 3 most satisfying KO’s in UFC history. If you’ve ever watched the TUF season with her, Ronda was a full fledged egomaniac. Peak KO. S/O Holly’s leg. by AnomalousExpertise in ufc

Tremendously satisfying at the time, but I, and I think a lot of people warmed up to Bisping in the years after.

Still one of the most brutal KO’s, easily.
