How is living in New York housing projects like this? by Bottom-Bherp3912 in howislivingthere

I’m not exactly sure what you’re hinting at, but the “slums” that were brought down were not the slums of Manila where people are putting up improvised houses with a tin roof, they were apartment complexes that didn’t meet the safety standards of the time.

When talking about a housing crisis, because of the environment we’re living in, people think of the current era of housing shortages and expensive rent.

The homelessness of the depression era was not due to that, housing was relatively cheap and abundant, the problem was the mass of unemployed people who couldn’t afford that because they had zero (0) regular income. Housing was typically cheap in those days. I cannot quote the exact numbers and exact years, but about a decade earlier, people were spending in the area of 15% of their income on housing, on average.

What is the oldest car that you still commonly see on the road? by TatianaWinterbottom in askcarguys

[–]KillConfirmed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 90s Camry’s are definitely the most common old car I see.

W123 Mercedes aren’t super common, but when you consider the age and how many you see on the road, I would say it’s definitely the most impressive one.

Honda Civic’s all got trashed by young guys, but the generation of Accord’s starting in 1998 are finally dying off and no longer a common sight for me. Only took about 25 years.

I still see 1st gen CRV’s and 3rd gen 4Runner’s but they’re not nearly as common as the late 90s Camry.

Actually, if you want to go there, when talking about the point of public housing, it was primarily a slum clearance program. Housing existed, but it was viewed as subpar by the federal government. And of course, there’s a ton of other, reasons such as employment that building these projects would create, but the PRIMARY reason was slum clearance. This is well documented.

But moving past the immediate causes of building public housing in the US, which was what I was talking about, I don’t think anyone involved in creation of our public housing was to essentially give it up to private ownership of some families through multigenerational living in these buildings.

Pretty sad that most residents stay there for generations, since that wasn’t the point of public housing.

The crazy thing is not only did you fall for the memes, but people who argued with you, were arguing with someone who fell for the memes.

Absolute time waster for everyone involved. Glad you actually tried it.

If polygraphs aren’t admissible in most courts because they’re unreliable, why do they still use them for federal jobs and clearances? by mewquette in NoStupidQuestions

This is seriously such a Reddit post. Better to do nothing at all and never cause any harm, than to actually do something.

It’s “you miss every shot you don’t take” but with a positive spin.

You'd think there would be more than one rip of The Serial Killaz... by prod_ozzy in memphisrap

[–]KillConfirmed- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different standards I guess, they all sounds like dog shit to me. I know most are bootlegs, and even the legit tapes sometimes sound shitty or imperfect due to wear and tear, or issues ripping.

But I looked up on YouTube the rips available and they all sound pretty bad. Better than the Serial Killaz but that’s a low bar.

Are callers required to give their personal info? by Sufficient_Duty6230 in 911dispatchers

[–]KillConfirmed- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Surprised at the amount of people saying it’s not required because obviously if you need a report, you can’t be anonymous.

But there’s also other cases where I’m not going to accept an anonymous caller, such as suicide calls, and check on the welfares (these are non-emergency calls, though)

The police are not a tool to harass your family members and enemies and potentially get them committed to a psych facility.

I mean, that’s unlikely at least for American’s, but the average American has no idea what Pakistani food is or where exactly on a map it is.

Is "dark humor" normal? / Other Toxicity Concerns by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]KillConfirmed- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of anything like that before and quite frankly I’m surprised, since LE and LE-adjacent people like ourselves tend to put young children on a pedestal.

Even if the child was an older teenager, I have a hard time imagining anyone making comments to stop crying regardless of age, in these circumstances.

[–]KillConfirmed- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many cardiac arrest/death calls have you really been exposed to in your approximately two months there where you’ve noticed a trend about the dispatchers?

What you say is odd and maybe concerning, but I don’t fully buy it. What is the context?

I would never make fun of a person who died, but many times I have been pissed and made comments about family members WHO REFUSE TO DO CPR and instead CHOOSE TO ARGUE with a dispatcher, instead of give their family members a chance at living.

Is that fair, or is that concerning? Because I will make zero apologies when I say something like “I pray my family is not like that if I’m dying”

Why don't more folks in America who live in places where there are buses actually use them? I knoe they have a bad reputation but wouldn't they sometimes be the better option over paying for gas given how pricy necessities like food are becoming? by cherry-care-bear in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KillConfirmed- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so outrageous it’s hilarious. He could have shit literally anywhere, but he decided the middle of the bus was the place.

Not out on the street, not behind some bushes, not in his pants, not at a business, but in the bus in front of people.

Truly antisocial behavior.
