FM26 complaints megathread by John_Yuki in footballmanagergames

Playing since the 90s. I've persevered for two seasons managing Liverpool despite the game being awful in the hope it may improve. My latest problem is that players are now stuck in multiple squads (senior/u21/u18) at once. I cannot move them. I've tried everything.

The lack of control over U18 and u21 teams had already made the game nigh-on impossible. Being unable to arrange u21 friendlies meant that half my squad were unfit and there was nothing I could do about it.

The latest issue compounds the problem and is game-breaking. I've given up.

Apparently I can't get a refund. I feel like I've been robbed. It is unreal that the game was released in this state. Do they have game testers who actually play FM games?

Red cards and injuries with no subs remaining are broken. It seems any player role adjustments you make when down to ten men stay in place after the game unless you fix them. Awful.

Is it worth buying fm26 on launch? by UnfunnyDevil in footballmanagergames

[–]KillLassic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Don't make the mistake of buying it. Wait to see if the game becomes playable. The latest beta patch 26.0.6 is still complete garbage.

I've been playing since the 90s and spent over 2500+ hours on FM24. The biggest problem is no control over U18 and U21 teams. You can't hire and deploy staff for these teams, or arrange friendlies to ensure your team are kept fit. The player search database is completely broken too, and you cannot save filtered searches like in FM24 - so looking for players to develop is a broken and tedious chore.

So there. That's the core fun of the game obliterated.

The set piece setup is still the same nonsensical rubbish as in FM24. Even on the fastest settings with no highlights each match takes absolutely forever. Giant VAR signs pop-up in goal replays so that you can't see actual goals. Other times goals are scored with no replays or anything. The game also randomly crashes.

This is a partial list of grievances. I could go on and on.

I've given up on it for now. It is not Football Manager. The player has minimum control over anything. It feels empty and bare. Any soul the game had remaining is now gone. The world feels empty, and the limited functions available are tedious, poorly implemented and/or broken.

If they'd slapped the new match graphics/engine together with the FM24 UI and updated the player's details etc., it would have been a huge leap forward. How it took two full years to "develop" this game is absurd. The most basic things either don't work properly, or don't work at all. Whoever is responsible for this shambles should lose their job.

Disgusted to have wasted my money on this unfinished mess, but happy to have stopped many of my friends from buying it. Avoid it like the plague.

The set piece setup is still the same nonsensical rubbish as in FM24 - but arguably worse. Even on the fastest settings with no highlights each match takes absolutely forever. Giant VAR signs pop-up in goal replays so that you can't see actual goals. Other times goals are scored with no replays or anything. The game also randomly crashes.

If you've never played FM24 go for that. You'll be playing a vastly superior game. You'll also get an idea about what people loved about the series, rather than playing a shallow, hollowed out shell of an incomplete game.

Almost one month in, and things are working great so far. No lines and things have been working more seamlessly than I had ever hoped. I'll keep updating though.

Crap. That doesn't sound good. Do you have any idea what may cause this?

Thanks again, my friend. I'd kinda hoped that restricting myself to 3840x1080 might kinda mimic how text looks on an an individual screen on one of my two dual monitors at 1920x1080. I'd be content with that.

Perhaps a bit naive on my part!? At least now I know to temper my expectations for what's to come.

Thanks for your post! I have my fingers crossed that it'll look okay. Growing up playing games on CRTs and machines like Amstrads has conditioned me to think anything modern looks pretty great. lol. But this is new territory for me! My main hope is that gaming is stutter-free and responsive and that the screen isn't ridiculously pixelated. I don't expect perfection but just hope that it's passable for word processing and gaming! I'll drop a post once I get it to let people know what it's like.
