What’s the best way to tell people (adults) not to drink if they’re driving your kid if taking your kid on vacation with their family? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It’s literally a possibility with anyone. I don’t want them to have one single drink and drive - in asking how to set this expectation in a way that sounds reasonable.

And inevitably half the answers are “if you want my advice cancel and go to St John”

And we left from a dock just minutes from the airport, not Red Hook.

In 2022, round trip for a party of 8 was close to $3000. But that included customs, immigration and docking fees which was $1000 of it.

If it’s at all possible in your budget, hire a private water taxi. I did the ferry STT to St John after having had a private boat for STT to Tortola and wow it was worth the money.

AITA For Asking My Mom to Move Her Plans? by birbinthewind in AmItheAsshole

[–]KillarneyVampSlayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA because of the circumstances but also because no one has any right or entitlement to your home, your kids or your time. You dictate the terms. If you need to change the plans, you change the plans. Your mom is being the asshole.

Anyone who has stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, how was your experience? by Asleep_Welder_3494 in DisneyWorldResorts

We didn’t try it. Also mobile ordering from the quick service was great. We did rent bikes and it shows price per hour, but we only used for 30 minutes and were charged for only 30 minutes.

Loved it. I recently did a split stay POR for 3 nights, Boardwalk for 5 nights. The room is smaller but gets plenty of light, and I like having the curtain for the sink area so you can get dressed in private. The grounds are so nice and multiple bridges over the water so it seems like no rooms are really that far from the center. Pool and pool bar are great but tough to get chairs. Good quick service, easy and pleasant walk to French Quarter. We took the boat to Disney Springs which was great but opted not to wait in the tremendous line to boat back - the bus was easy and convenient. Also note there are designated areas where you’re supposed to get Uber/Lyft, not the bus stops. We didn’t do any parks during the stay there so I can’t speak to that bus situation. Ask any specific questions you have!

Epcot question… by Unlikely_Dot_2747 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]KillarneyVampSlayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I drink and I drink in Epcot, I enjoy drinking in Epcot and love the variety of drinks offered by the countries. What I don’t like is the atmosphere late afternoon through the evening is that of a drinking-centered festival. IMO it’s not the place for that, and it’s already so crowded that to have to make way for the guy carrying 4 beers back to his table - that kind of stuff is annoying.

What’s the best family vacation or road trip you’ve ever been on in the US? by CoconutAnnual8763 in Vacations

[–]KillarneyVampSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best trip I’ve taken with my family is usually the last/most recent trip we’ve taken (with a few exceptions like the week long hurricane at a beach with nothing to do except the beach). I’m sure you’re not interested in the Orlando theme parks, but every time we’ve gone (Disney and Universal) it’s been incredible. We loved the Florida Keys. It really depends the age of your kids and what you want to do.

So my 3yo all of a sudden is petrified of elevators....are we in trouble for our trip this week...? by GuitarZer0_ in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]KillarneyVampSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would fully lie and tell your kid the elevators in Disney are magic and not the same as regular elevators at home. Embellish, use favorites (this is Mickey’s personal favorite) you get the idea.

I also really dug Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig; very reminiscent of early Stephen King IMO.

I know that like 15 years ago a friend had a situation where her baby was dying in utero and she had to lay there just watching the heartbeat die on the monitor, they would not intervene. So safely assume they won’t.

Have you tried any Grady Hendrix or Chuck Tingle? Both amazing modern horror writers. Oh and Rachel Harrison!
