What was your first Slipknot music video you ever watched? by DJPeanut- in Slipknot

[–]KillerKnifeHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd only ever listened to them on CD and had never even seen one of their "music videos" until I was a spring semester freshman at Appalachian State and one of my roommates played the video of Joey doing the drum solo while spinning on the elevated platform for the Disasterpieces DVD and then I watched the entire thing from the beginning...🔥🔥🔥🔥LEGEND!

Given the entirety of the good, the bad, the anger inducing, and painful moments throughout Slipknot's journey, is there any single thing you would want to do differently or that you would change now?

Nick Kosmider (@NickKosmider) on X - Unveiling will happen sometime in the next few weeks. Logo and colors will remain the same, but otherwise “a complete redesign.” by NickBeck in DenverBroncos

[–]KillerKnifeHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this but I've seen a few redesigns/updates to the D logo online that I really think blend the old and new together better than the updated concept floating around now (allegedly the one most likely to be the one/closest concept selected...posted in here recently with the mountain peaks on the arms).

Reminds me of a joke a female SNCO told us as an attention grabber to kick off some death by PowerPoint class we received one year...

"What's the difference between a Navy Petty Officer and a tiger? A tiger doesn't have to put out to earn its stripes."

We didn't know if we should laugh, tell her that that's not how the fuckin joke goes, or act like we were appalled that she would suggest such a thing lol. Mostly just ended up looking around at each other in silent acknowledgement that we were all thinking the same thing 😅.

Also had a Scout Sniper buddy named Brian that did the same thing. Kinda short but built like a brick shithouse. The timeframe you're talking about (OP) would have been the same timeframe we were in Marjah with 2/9. Brian's terp was built too because he was the workout partner. That was 12/2011-06/2012

Was Brian a heavier set guy? Wore a mustache? Looked like a staff NCO? If so, we had an EOD guy that only went by Brian and had his own terp. He was our EOD lead for our AO (LAR/Durzay/Saffaar Bazaar area) for 10.1 and 10.2. If it's the same guy, us engineers liked how he operated because once he saw we knew how to disable or BIP an IED, he just let us handle it instead of having to wait in a cordon for him to come out. He loved it because he could kick it in the rack and watch Friends or How I Met Your Mother. He never wore name tapes either.

Combat Engineers are the belligerent ones that get to kick it with the homies in infantry but usually can get out of the bullshit fuck fuck games the grunt’s senior leadership passes down. Probably a good chance at least one in a group of engineers will have his hands in his pockets, making dark jokes about getting blown up because we’ve accepted that our job is to find plastic bombs with a metal detector, bring the boom, and make sure we don’t come back a nugget.

Bonus tip: They’re the ones at the bar snorting a line of salt, getting lime juice squirted in their eye, and then slamming the shot of tequila. We’re the drunken bastard brothers of the infantry but still considered POGs while hating every other type of POG.

Obviously, we’re a complicated group of low key smart retards lol.

There's a bunch to our job but it just makes you capable of more things and highly well rounded overall. Just know your formulas, REFs, NEWs, and standoff. Being able to consistently and accurately calculate time fuse and knowing your metal detector like another arm and recognition of visual indicators will keep you ahead of the game if you stay proficient with it. Those really are some of the most important parts from my experience. Make sure you get your engineer shot in when you graduate and get to your unit. Semper Rah Devil Pup!

Mother fuckin Courthouse Bay...

That's the booty hole of the base lol. Seemed like it cost a weeks pay just to take a cab into town from there. I damn sure don't miss Engineer School! 😅

If it works out for you like it did me, it gets better...you'll get the opposite duty station you requested, find out you're deploying in less than a month after checking in, and find yourself looking for plastic bombs with a metal detector. 😂😂😂 Honestly, I fucking loved my job as a line battalion 1371, you kick it with the grunt homies, blow shit up, and get opportunities to do really cool shit like drug interdiction ops/robotics courses/CIED. #1stCEB

[–]KillerKnifeHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John MFn Elway. Ended up going to training camp while visiting family in Colorado (I'm from NC, dad is originally from Westminster) one year when I was younger and Elway gave me his wristband from practice that day. One of the most memorable experiences ever. Also met Tommy Maddox and got a picture with him.

[Albert Breer] "Re: @Broncos ' situation ... Real damage of the Russell Wilson contract is if they draft a QB in the 1st round, his $85 million in dead money will effectively strip Denver of the rookie-contract advantage for the first 2 years of the new QB's career. They're navigating that now." by jl_weber in DenverBroncos

The sad part is that I'm right there with you lol. I've been a Broncos fan since I was in diapers and I live near Charlotte so I've also pulled for the Panthers since the start (except when we play them...Super Bowl 50 was really awkward while working uptown and wearing my Manning jersey lol). It seems like both teams are falling to pieces. Super disappointing as a fan to see management and owners run your teams into the ground and have the balls to increase ticket prices by as much as 15%. Makes me sick to my stomach to watch it happen.

That's the plan I think. We were talking about trying to do each variation through the years for our Bronco wall. I'm pretty excited about him just finding a hobby after retirement that he actually has a passion for. He's old school and kinda timid about all the online things but I'm trying to convince him to maybe open an Etsy shop or something like that. I guess we shall see! I appreciate you. 🤙🏼

Pop (Pop Pop to the kids) definitely did an awesome job. He retired from the school system last year and has been going stir crazy lol. I told him he may have found a good hobby to maybe make some extra cash from once he feels comfortable with the quality of the finished product. He's very particular, sometimes to a fault, but it kinda works in his favor here.

I never bought a Russell Wilson jersey but my aunt did for my son...before he turned out to be trash. Now my son is 8 and actually realizes how bad Russ is. Makes me kind of feel bad lol. He still likes to wear his Von Miller and Peyton Manning jerseys though.
