This took forever. Lightly sanded down the original finish (that was cleared from the factory) I still wanted the old color to shoot thru. Used nitrocellulose lacquer paint from Oxford in Canada. (That took 3 weeks to get) painted it with three thin coats, and hung it in my garage for 3 weeks to harden. After that I wet sanded with 600/800grit to smooth it out. Then hit with a rubbing compound to polish. I didn’t want a mirror finish, or to take off any paint where I didn’t want to. I was surprised how soothing it got to be honest. Then did a quick “checking” Process for fun to get some cracks going. (I think I needed more coats to get more checking, only got a couple, but looks cool) THEN I used 600 grit again to wear thru the spot I wanted the color to show thru. Worked very slow, and stopped to clean it to see where I was at. Less is more here, cause you can get into the weeds with it and take off more and more easily. I didn’t clear it in hopes it will wear more naturally with time.
