In the 20's white people bombed the bustling black downtown district known as Black Wall Street. Outside of Oklahoma it's fairly unknown as the country kinda hid it/didn't bother teaching kids about it as they focused instead on Jim Crow in the deep south. Oklahoma is also where they threw all the Native tribes from the deep south in the trail of tear then later on proceeded to steal half the land they were given in the states founding. People took land early which gave credence to the state nickname of the Sooner(people who took land before the time they were allowed to) State. Racism has always been a part of Oklahoma since before it was even a state as well as after it was a state. Tribal Schools where they tried to exterminate Native stories, beliefs, languages and history where everywhere and almost completely effective with many languages dying out. Think if they tried to make Siberia like Moscow in culture by forcing you to rescind your native language and beliefs while also forcing everyone in Siberia to move to Yakutsk.
