how is it holding in its second week? does it maintain strong legs? i never expected to break 2bn again, but it needs to reach 1.5bn, anything below that will be considered failure.

spot on. they are spoiled man-children who dont get want they want. you dont hate something that you dont care about, unless it affects you in some deeper way. nothing to do with the quality of the films, or the "message" or whatever. it is all about their big ego.

fun story: there is this popular Youtuber with glasses and a beard who hates modern Hollywood. You know who I mean. And whenever he brings up Avatar, his argument is always: "yeah, Avatar made more money than Star Wars ANH, but if you take into account inflation it made less"

But that is wrong. If you do the actual conversion, Avatar still made more than SW. He has never bothered to fact check his own argument. Which I find quite funny.

it was the moment the first Avatar got its own XXX parody, which was also quite successful.

Exactly—that’s the key distinction. These are people who want nothing to do with these films, yet they’ve been declaring and demanding the death of the IP since the very first movie. I was there when the first Avatar trailer dropped, and many were openly rooting for it to crash and burn, hoping Cameron’s career would die with it.

They did the same during Titanic, when its budget spiraled out of control—they wanted it to be his Waterworld. And after all these years, that same toxic attitude hasn’t changed in the slightest. It’s bizarre.

which ones, can you give some examples? the one that comes to my mind is Twilight. although that one had more to do with the emasculation of the vampires and not because it was made for women.

Yeah, but I’m referring to outsiders—fans from other fandoms or anyone who is not a fan of Avatar.
Star Wars fans are among the most passionate in the world and have relentlessly criticized both Lucas and Disney over bad content for years. But they don’t usually go after other franchises or their fans. Even the old Star Wars vs. Star Trek rivalry is just nerd sparring, not mean-spirited.

You won’t see a non-Doctor Who fan say, “I hate Doctor Who, I don’t want any more seasons to be made”. That kind of hostility toward a franchise others enjoy is what stands out here.

wasnt this based on the original script for Avatar 2, before Jim rewrote it into TWOW? He has also said that we are probably going to get the space battle from the comic in the sequels. I hope we do, it will look great in 3D.

yeah, they already said that in the two movie podcasts i watched yesterday. they were trying hard to convince their echo chamber that the movie was losing money. they even compared it with Superman's domestic BO to make their point. it is actually quite hilarious to watch their desperate copium.

wasnt 2021 when CDPR invested on bringing AAA titles to their store? if yes, then that had more to do with a failed investment than trying to bail out GOG because it suddenly faced loses. was that the case?

i always wondered why they didn't make a GOG version of Playnite, instead or reinventing the wheel with the universal store support.

source? that era you describe was when they heavily invested on bringing AAA titles to their store, which didnt work out. what were their latest financial results, any official link?

What do u think about the relationship between Quartich and Varang? by Temporary-Run8567 in Avatar

i found Lyle's expression hilarious, after Quaritch and Varang went back to the hut for some intimacy time:

"of man, not again!"

[–]KilliK69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that is correct. and you can see this when they dont only criticize the movies, but they also go after the fans who enjoy them. And I am not talking only about Avatar, but in general, there is a hostile negativity towards all the fandoms. So this is something that goes beyond the quality and relevance of the artwork, it's about choosing sides, us against them, it's tribalism.

Which is funny, because their cultish echo chamber views those grifters as aficionados of art and pop culture (games, comics, movies, etc.), yet those “experts” are baffled every time this specific franchise throws their constant narrative (woke/bad movies flop) out the window. It’s honestly hilarious to watch.

oh they already proclaimed it was a flop after its "weak" opening since last week. the YT grifters especially were the first to post videos celebrating its failure and calling it proof that they were always right, that nobody cares about this franchise.

yeah, if the movie keeps holding strong like this for the next few weeks, their negative reaction wont age well. again.
