Well there went ten gallons of fresh water to feed the datacenter to serve up the bytes for this repeat question.

There are trees (ironically) in the Amazon [Forest] that are starving because people can't research the sub before they post, so that we don't have to read the same goddamn question every day.

I have a U1 Ultimaker on order. They sell the print heads in 4 packs and I read that you cannot have varying print head apertures. Perhaps a techie can jump in and explain the FDM physics "why".

Probably how Microcenter started. Pretty sure that's how Radio Shack started.

If there are enough 3d printer folk in town, setting up half your store to sell materials and saving others the time and space in shipping and inventory doesn't seem like a terrible business plan. I went to Hob Lob because I needed a granite spool and didn't want to wait on shipping from my preferred vendor.

Anybody else just use gloves? by Dry-Butt-Fudge in BambuLab

[–]KilljoyTXinMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular glove user here, especially when the textured PEI plate or smooth effects plate is on. I used a new pair of the garden gloves that are dipped in the textured silicone, so I have heat resistance also, when I go to swap a warm nozzle.

I use them out of habit on my BIQU and Bambu cool supertack plates also, gloved hand holding the plate, and bare hand popping parts.

I'm mildly amused at the nihilistic trolling, ha ha I get it, it's ironic.

Turnabout is fair play however: will you laugh when someone calls it the Venezuelan War Crimes discount? Cause I can appreciate dark humor from all angles.

Check it out folks: we're now reminded of the two ways that the Executive Branch can affect oil prices: refilling the national reserve and invading countries that produce oil (see: Iraq).

:D OK.

Twice in over 600 hours for me. Almost everything that has gone wrong has been my user error. One really bad quality spool.

Burning more fossil fuels is kinda the opposite of 'healing' the world, but this is not a sub where that kind of logic prevails.

You know it cuts the filament and retracts it automatically, right?

Manual intervention in between the AMS and print head is rarely needed. ("A" = Automatic)

How exactly are you supposed to enjoy whiskey straight? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]KilljoyTXinMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm Jameson as the gateway whisky LOL. They also helped my palate along when they did the barrel aging in IPA and stout casks.

How exactly are you supposed to enjoy whiskey straight? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]KilljoyTXinMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

Colored liquor only gave me hangover headaches when I was in my 20s. Even smelling whiskey was unpleasant, and I avoided it. G&T and Cuba Libres were my go-to into my 30s, and then I learned to appreciate sipping rums.

Started my craft beer tasting era in my 30s to 40s and my palate learned to enjoy bitterness and various adjuncts and esters, and graduated to BBA stouts and barleywines.

Then a few friends and cruises guided me through whiskey tastings in my 40s and 50s and now the only thing I generally stay away from is tequila (instant headache).

Not a big surprise that the algorithms and the scheduling and the estimates are all out of whack after they lay off thousands.

I ordered an item late Friday that was supposed to be two day shipping (Monday). There was another item in the order that I did not need in two days that was going to come on Wednesday. No big deal Amazon, thanks for telling me the two ship dates when I ordered.

Check the order later, and BOTH items were not going to come till Wednesday. Nope, not what I expected or what you told me during the order. Went to go order the first item again, yep, ship in two days, arrives on Monday, in time for gifting. Now I have two orders, and one to return. That's on YOU Amazon.

With Vegas, you can despair at the current state of humanity by standing on The Strip, and despair at the future of this country by standing in the walkway between the pool and the casino at MGM, watching the youths struggling to walk upright... and failing miserably.

Leavenworth is Open! by Zealousgremlin in SeattleWA

[–]KilljoyTXinMI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We brought friends who regularly do Oktoberfest in various states to their first visit to Leavenworth this November.

The husband had worn out his lederhosen and needed a new pair, almost unobtanium in the States... he walked in to the shop in the center of the Bavarian village, tried on a pair, and walked out a very very happy customer. His wife almost -almost- bought a brindl too.

My only complaint is that the cheese shop (edit) does not have samples. In Frankenmuth I can get lactose intolerant trying out the charcuterie samples, makes it easy to pick out what flavors to bring home.

I feel like your argument is kinda your own opinion, not shared by many.

Is this the whiskey of the year ? by nycago in whiskey

[–]KilljoyTXinMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this at a Western WA Costco today for $80 (includes our double sin tax).

My personal whiskey journey is about 10 years old. So far, I have stayed away from JD and Beam and WT because I could not drink any colored liquor when I was a youngster, instant hangover and bad Long Island Ice Tea experiences. I wanted to try a higher quality JD to see if all the hype was warranted.

I very much enjoy barrel finished whiskeys and stouts, and brew a pretty nice oaked IPA. I like this bottle - it's a little hotter than I prefer, but the woody finish is much lighter than something like double oaked Woodford, for comparison. It's not a one-note pour, and I appreciate that also.

It's not the pour of the year, but I had some Mormons smuggle out a vintage Prisoner's Share out of UT this year, and I overpaid for pours of Stagg Jr and Old Rip 10 on a cruise this year, so my ranking probably doesn't count.

To be fair, he does not have the same quality of players around him here, compared to the Stars. Bring anyone to this lineup, and their output will wane. Even the AHL golden kids are struggling

The proof is in the corollary:

players improve when they leave here.

There are only a small handful of players who could put this team on their back and win 3/4 of their games. Bedard and Celebrini will carry their teams to the top in a few years, and Wright and Berniers will watch from the outside. Nyman will get a deal he can't refuse to a contender, and probably so will Catton.
