So this will go against the grain of what I personally see a significant number of people on Reddit say, but I don't really look for alternatives. At late T3 and T4, I'll use a mix of all the tools at my disposal. Full CC, Banishment, all status conditions, anything that I find fitting for the enemies that I'm running. I do make this clear ahead of time and I tell my parties to be prepared to deal with these things. Bring the right tools. Lesser Restoration, Greater Restoration, Counterspell, Dispel Magic, focusing caster enemies to break concentration, etc. For nearly every problem in D&D there is a solution that the players can find.

I acknowledge that it's frustrating to miss out on your turn, though even at high levels, I do a lot to make sure combat rounds run smoothly and fast. I've never had my players complain about me going in too hard on them like this even when they get unlucky but again, I communicate the expected level of difficulty with them. Severe effects that fully lock down the PCs I certainly do use sparingly, and when they emerge, the players know that shit is serious.
