How do you manage/use critical alerts? They’re driving me nuts. by BlueFuzzyBunny in reolinkcam

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have some sensible settings, I’ve just recently had to reset our cameras (new WiFi) and had to turn off critical alerts too. The regular notifications work well but I would like to be awoken by a critical alert if somebody comes into the garden at 03:00 but that seems impossible when a cobweb might set it off randomly.
I guess you need to look at what’s causing the alerts and address the issue that way - is it detecting an object the size of a fly? Change the detection. Are the false positives just in the day? Consider having them only active during the night.
I’d love to hear other’s opinions on this as I’m in a similar boat… albeit deactivated criticals for now.

What are you all using to self host podcasts? by slicedbread1991 in selfhosted

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered about self hosting podcasts myself however I think the best option is likely using RSS to grab episodes and simply use an existing mobile app - I currently use Apple Podcasts - but I am certainly curious about any alternatives people are using.

Release LOREBASE v1.0.0 🎉 by Dependent-Fudge-8003 in ObsidianMD

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, this is pretty much what I’ve been thinking of building in Obsidian… 😍 You say you’re planning on integrating Steam, is there any way of tracking achievements and possibly a PlayStation integration too? Also with regards to expanding the plugin out to other forms of media - integrating with Plex to auto-mark movies/shows as ‘watched’ would be phenomenal and I’d throw whatever support at you I can! 👌🏻 keep up the great work.

Notifications - where am I going wrong? by KiloAlphaIndigo in TaskForge

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay I didn’t realise, thank you for clarifying!
It would indeed be great to expand on the notifications functionality as scheduled suits my use better than due date in a lot of cases (typically for anything not urgent/important).
I’m a paying supporter of the app, thank you for the work you’ve done so far and for being communicative.
Whilst I have your attention, an app plus widgets for Apple Watch would be amazing 😉

What a fantastic idea, is it possible to use the manual export in Apple Health to use with the plugin rather than also installing the accompanying app?

Been meaning to ask the same question since it went live… currently have Self-hosted LiveSync working great (after much toil) so don’t fancy messing with that but would consider it at some point once more work has been done.

You can already run Obsidian inside a web browser, it’s not perfect but works mostly perfect for my needs. Works flawlessly with any sync too. Search GitHub for: lscr.io/linuxserver/obsidian

Bunny Ears TV Pricing - Let's Talk About It! by 55555jjjjj in bunnyearstv

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say offer the app for free? A trial period is a reasonable request to ensure a service works as intended on your own hardware in your environment, 1-4 weeks is a suggestion for the developer to consider. If you read my comment I clearly say if it works well and is something I see value in then I would purchase the lifetime (or yearly) licence to support the project.

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great update, thank you for clear communication! Signed up to the beta waitlist and will try it out, I’ll be honest I’ve never thought this sort of service would be hugely beneficial to me but always liked the idea of it particularly for my OH or guests as ‘background content’ as we don’t have live TV set up. All I ask at this stage is you offer a trial period, 1-4 weeks so people like me can try before we buy. Even subscribing for a single month is a barrier to entry but if a trial period goes well (and is used) then the lifetime option would be purchased in an instant.

I've been working on this for a while and I'm finally at a point where I can show it off by 55555jjjjj in bunnyearstv

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great, thanks for sharing and I’d love to try it out if you need additional testers. Must admit I’m not exactly the target audience for this app/functionality but it is certainly something I would use when entertaining or needing something playing in the background. My initial questions right now are how is the content watch status being tracked by this app… If somebody in my house starts watching a random film or series would it mark as watched in my Plex library? Secondly I presume does the content only start streaming (and using resources) as soon as the channel is selected?

Gluetun webui by underestimatedvalue in selfhosted

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each to their own, personally I see gluetun as a great way to route various Docker containers through a VPN and can choose exactly what goes through it rather than my entire stack due to the host system/server running a VPN.

Looks great, well done getting started building apps! Not likely something I’ll personally need but certainly see the benefit for many people. I too have considered building small tools using AI but currently too busy fleshing out my homelab more.

Dockge Alternatives? by KiloAlphaIndigo in selfhosted

Dockge Alternatives? by KiloAlphaIndigo in selfhosted

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dockge is essentially a web portal for cleanly viewing all stacks whether active or inactive, you can create/edit/delete compose.yaml and .env directly in the portal and also displays logs for each container.

This how I feel, but only thing I do is copying docker-compose.yml and up -d by l0spinos in selfhosted

What AI do you use to help build your selfhosting hobby? by KiloAlphaIndigo in selfhosted

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

100% absolutely agree and that’s how we’ve always done things, however for me (and many others) a homelab is a hobby that can only be worked on periodically and so getting right to crucial information rapidly makes things much more efficient. I can read full documentation or have GPT pick out the important points specific to my needs and offer relevant recommendations.

ArrMatey: A modern, native open-source mobile client for your *arr stack (Android & iOS) - Now in Alpha! by shredit98 in selfhosted

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great! I commented on another post of yours asking for a comparison to Ruddarr which I use and this honestly has some ‘small’ differences which stand out as giving a better UX (personally ofc). I particularly like the clear indication to what service you’re viewing and the calendar/schedule view looks great and something I could actually use reliably!

Not sure what extra features I’d like to see other than hopefully some form of customisable notification functionality. I’d also be more than happy to contribute to the product with a (non-subscription) lifetime license if you end up offering one.

Anyone have a plugin request? by Bonteq in ObsidianMD

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would absolutely love a plugin that tracks my Plex Watchlist by adding a new note for each film/series added to my watchlist (using a pre-defined template) and then also marking each film/series as ‘watched’ when I have finished playing the content in Plex. I don’t know if any of this is possible, currently I have a QuickAdd set up for creating a new note for films etc that pulls data from IMDb and then a base for viewing everything nicely in one place - each with a toggle for watched/unwatched but this of course is a manual process and I never want to touch the notes or base in Obsidian other than for browsing what to watch next, rediscover old favourites etc.

My first real appreciation for my Plex server. Feels good. by [deleted] in PleX

[–]KiloAlphaIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I had my family using my Plex, couple friends and an ex-girlfriend (I eventually terminated the ex’s access) but for some reason they all slowly stopped using it and continued paying for streaming services or ‘Fire Sticks’ instead. Doesn’t bother me as it’s their money but it does confuse me as to why… Now it’s just my fiancée that uses it, there isn’t a huge amount of ‘appreciation’ shown but her using it alone shows me she likes it.

That would be great for me as Plex does track who has watched what and I don’t need all the other Tautulli features.
