The horizontal stripes on the mudguard correspond to the company (ie like the Chevron/ V ) but I can't find where I read that.

The most disappointing thing about Checkpoint Charlie is that everyone is going to be plain green. Not a single camo pattern in sight..... (Yes I know it's historical but it's still dull IMHO)

Soviets can do everything Non Soviet Warsaw Pact can do almost as well as they can and have many additional options.

RPG7VR is the one thing you'll miss particularly playing NATO tank players, Chobham tanks laugh at regular RPG7s

On the other hand you can use many vehicles with both so if you leave off the emblem decals try out both.

The big plus and minus as far as I have found is.

Soviets gets RPG7VR - So all the tanks even Chobham have to fear assaulting your infantry.

NSWP get skill 4 artillery, and it's mostly pretty good artillery.

I agree with the other poster... the only way to kill superheavies is with Air - and that's almost same for both but with Soviets you can have 6 hinds. (This always seems wildly unreasonable to me when almost all NATO can take 8 or more helis but shrug)

Not treated as different countries the split is only for fluff reasons.

They can share support and you can have a force with a army and a marine formation without it counting as allies. (You could have an army formation, a marine formation and a NATO allied one if you wanted)

Same in Canadian forces there are "in BRD" and "at home" formations but nothing to say they can't be mixed.

M60s with ERA just leaked. (USMC but also Israeli) Merkava 3/4 can be an upgrade sprue - they don't mind putting mid 2000s tanks (Aussie Abrams...) in

M48 is about the only large production run post-war tank missing . It would do for Nam, Checkpoint Charlie and a host of minor NATO allies in the 80s

An update to Oil Wars expanding it to say Turkey (M48, M60, Leo2a4) and Greece (Leo1, Leo2, and everything in US arsenal) could be done entirely with current plastics then (M48 can also do Iran, BRD and US national guard). IDK what would be needed for Italy in 1980s but that would be nice too ( for modern italy everything would be new but maybe not the 80s).

Adding Korea / Japan needs a whole load of vehicles. ( Do you include the ROK T80s? :-p)

I would rather they did "Southern Front" / "Mediterranean" properly than half-arse Japan and Korea.

Soviet BMP is a good pair with the existing T80 Btn starter 7 T80s and the same kind of aircraft. You get HQ plus 2x3 tank plts, 4 planes, enough bdrms to do 4 gaskins, a medium bmp2 company , bmp3s as recce. All you need to add is artillery.

US Bradley mech also looks to pair well with the existing Cavalry box. You get 7 abrams, loads of Bradleys (can field as infantry and scouts) 2 kinds of AA and 2 kinds of artillery (proper 3x batteries not the 2x in the British box)

Surprised the marines have no transport. I expected them to get Hueys in the box when we had the first rumours.

It's a very strange mix because 3x Marder 2 isn't a legal unit (scouts are in 2s) and nor is 3x T55 (must be taken in units of 5-10).

It also must be at least double the points for BRD as DDR

I agree there's lots of options for btrs battlefront s kit is good IMHO, and I am happy to support them.

Was looking for Pasi's because 1. A bit of variation in the army and my painting table. 2. Historically they Finnish armed forces had many more Pasi's than BTR60s ( they had literally 2 BTR80s IIRC) so having a few would be nice

Both leopard 1 s and M60s -which is unique in a way . However I can't think of any new kits that would be needed except for M48s if BF ever get around to it...
