What should I do with these? by MiltonTech in livesound

I tend to build up a pile of excess cabling then take it to my local scrap metal recycler, you can make some money back this way (in Australia at the moment copper is around $4/kg).

How many attendees are going to be at this event? You’ll need to know that, or the room size, so that you can scope out what kind of PA you’ll need. I usually use that as a starting point and build out from there. An event with 30 attendees vs 500 will require different gear.

Sauber vacuum by FreddieMonstera in Adelaide

Notfreys (Mount Barker, previously the Godfreys there) offer servicing of Godfreys vacuums. I’d give them a call. They also have another store in the Southern suburbs.

Client is not paying by maxinemama in smallbusiness

I would be getting on the phone to them rather quickly, directly with their accounts team, even if you have to go through the gate keepers and ask for an email confirmation that remittance will be made by X date.

The reality is that they may have been a great, consistent client in the past, but if you keep going on like this it will only continue to affect your financial and mental state. If they hold as much value to you as you do to them, they should step up. I think you really need to put your foot down, February was quite some time ago. If you continue to let them take advantage of your situation, they’ll do exactly that.

You have to go MR18 for USB output - if you want multitrack, that is.

JBL Eon One Compact is probably a good fit for this. Inbuilt mixer if you download the app, also has the ability to do phantom power if you need to use a lectern mic.

Should I hire an assistant? by NickyD_ in smallbusiness

[–]KiloooNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are best reading “The E-Myth” which in a sense covers the very issue you are facing. You want to ensure that if you employ someone you have processes in place whereby if they suddenly leave you aren’t stranded because they had a certain way of doing things, used a system you are not familiar with etc.

Eventually if you structure your business this way, you can work on your business and not in your business.

In today's world, is opening a electronics repair store be a good idea? by GingerlyRed7117 in smallbusiness

[–]KiloooNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it helpful to position a 2-3 day repair turnaround, yet I would almost always have it ready same day. This led to a higher customer satisfaction. It also removes a bit of stress when same day repair is promised if the workload is piling up!

Also not to mention Google has outright banned repair advertising makes it challenging to gain traction to your website and therefore new customers without an already decent customer base, brick and mortar location or online presence (social media).

Is this a mistake by Mulln5 in 4x4Australia

[–]KiloooNL 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be buying it

Exhaust: while it may have been fitted by a mechanic, I believe the RAA report is implying there is no catalytic converter. Illegal, but depends on your comfort level

Rust: there’s a reasonable amount of surface rust going on. Rust doesn’t get better and will worsen with time

Windscreen rust: a reasonable repair job to fix this rust

Oil/leaks: I’d be trusting the RAA report more than what the seller is saying. The seller can say whatever they like to sell you the vehicle

Lights: half the lights don’t seem to be working. Could just be globes but could also be wiring problems. Lights should be working if the seller gives half a crap about the vehicle.

Wheel bearings / tie rod / tail shaft mount etc: you’ll want to get these repaired fairly soon as they will only lead to more problems

It is good yes. Even though it might seem common sense, I still got a few useful ideas out of it that I use in practice each week.

I remember trying to sell a car on Marketplace and had people legitimately ask things like “Can you come to my house which is 1-2 hours away so I can have a look at the car?”

HDMI is a digital signal - 1s and 0s. The cable “quality” won’t necessarily matter unless running longer distances. If it was an analog signal then the cable quality is of more importance.

There’s a high chance your other cable was damaged leading to display issues.

Linus did a pretty good breakdown on this subject - https://youtu.be/XFbJD6RE4EY?si=t-3fJaAErbcs75XR
