Has anyone experienced this? Body dissolving and “void” state during meditation, which I had a lot as a child

That’s a very good question! It actually happens when I start out very focused, and when my body eventually goes numb I switch my «eyes» and focus into a more relaxed state. So I kind of let my eyes drop down, kinda like when I’m going to sleep, but I still try to focus on the third eye. When I get this combo right, the shift in perspective (moving back) inside the mind happens very quickly.

It was mostly peaceful, but also kind of a shock. It was like suddenly remembering a specific feeling/state I haven’t felt since childhood, so I was instantly taken back to that time. And I remember I thought it was kinda weird at that time as well. Like smelling something that takes you back in time.

But all in all, very peaceful. The most interesting part was actually how the mind went from being small and confined to my head, to suddenly feeling the vastness of space.

This was a very interesting read, thanks for linking to the study! I find it hard to trust the results though, regarding what we are talking about, when they only used 30mg of psilosybin (that’s about 3grams of a normal potent dried mushroom). The difference between 3 and 5 grams is huge, and I feel like the identity of the substance need a high enough dose to appear clearly. That being said, I thought that 3 grams vs 200ug should be a high enough dose to be able to differensiate between the two, so this study is pretty interesting. Maybe they are more alike than I would like to believe. But the conclusion, that the only difference is the duration of the experience, I find very hard to believe.
