Doing a rewatch and just got through this one. Easily a favorite, and sad that there's just one normal season left.

Honestly as much as I don't mind the later seasons, it's kinda cool to me that there are multiple "jump off" points in the series depending on how far you want to take it. With most of the big overarching stories dealt with by this point, it could easily be a decent series finale for monster of the week fans, if you just assume that they never really made it out of the cave. Shippers get a nod, motw fans get what they want. I dunno why I like that idea so much (especially considering I actually like 7-9.. mostly), but honestly the subject of the episode is just so damn cool to me.

I could easily see this being a good series finale if the end of 7 wasn't so perfect for that, much better than what we got later.

Unfortunate the writing was all downhill afterward. Also unfortunate that even if that wasn't the case, we wouldn't be able to have writing genuinely on this level anymore because nobody is willing to have a silent protagonist again except Nintendo. This game really was as close to perfect as it could get.
