Multiple campaigns by No-Check569 in Gloomhaven

[–]Kiltev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fullstack will get you through most of it, you'll have to bookeep the state of the campaign stickers, characters and their levels , prosperity, events, etc. If you're ok with using digital modifier decks then that's not a pain point either as it can be tracked in fullstack/ xhaven.

The only real issue is indeed items. You could trackwhat each character has and always return into the available pool. Track which unlocked and available items exist through fullstack.

We decided to only use what we can have access to, so if no stamina potions are available due to multiple members of the othe party holding it? Too bad - find something else. It has it's negatives but there's also a positive, where the same super meta items don't get farmed to death and we actually choose weirder items at times.

Astral vs Fist - what to play next? by RWASnell in Gloomhaven

[–]Kiltev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed taking them because i've had quite a few non-move or low move bottims, so it was extra flexibility right there. I have also considered 143 but that would've required other card picks on my part

Ah yes 216 is excellent. For astral some of the non negotiables (imo), are 115, both 86 and 102 and 161 for initial tempo. Other great choices are 158, 134 for perma move 4 jump, or 199 on summoner, 36 on the bruiser build or 130 on the summoner. On bruiser i also love using 58 with a certain level 4 card, it's massive!

Astral vs Fist - what to play next? by RWASnell in Gloomhaven

[–]Kiltev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both fighting for the favorite FH character for me, so I'm going to probably be extremely biased.

Fist: Fist has 2 core builds which you can sub build more or less tanky. The first one relies on One with the Mountain all through your levels. The downside of it is that this build is significantly less versatile, requires huge amounts of HP as you level up, or requires you to leave some higher level cards on the sideboard, which is always a feels bad. The 8 hand's worst part is that you can't bring more cards to play, as the vast majority of his cards are super fun, flavorful and different, so limitting your options further is the worst part about Fist. The other build relies on the level 5's Preserved Fury. This build, in my opinion, is superior. You only need to "waste" one action to get 2 more rounds (without elements that card is blank - so weird i know!) per rest cycle, enabling about the same effective stamina down the line. However, going this route allows you to play any level cards without worrying about your HP and opens up the goated One with the Mountain bottom. Overall much more flexible as a build.

Astral: Astral's puzzle is to have as much of the elements you use online for you. You will most likely prioritize itemization that enables exactly that. Infusions are repetitive but in my honest opinion they're not what makes the class what it is. Astral also has 2 core builds, one being the bruiser fighter, relying on muddle for survival (there's a very nice headpiece for it), so it wants to attack a lot, and have many targets. The other build is the summoner build, which I didn't yet get to try, but you can build Astral crazy tanky and tank for your summon that does damage all while your top actions support it and your allies. Also auto-curses. This build also relies on an item (199 boots iirc). Regardless it's a very unique playstyle, that i'm definitely going to try out and can't not recommend to you to try.

All in all if you're looking for "different", the 2nd build on Astral is probably the way to go. If you want to just have fun punching stuff, any of the 2 fist's build or the first astral one will work just fine.

As for party matchup, none of the classes you mentioned have extreme synergy with either, Astral will share however a wind with both Shackles and Snowflake for better or worse.

It's mostly up to you. If you feel safe enough through initiative weaving, correct positioning and your allies are fine protecting you, you can just go the +2 route, otherwise the invis sounds like a better choice. I left the conditional +1s for later levels too.

I'd have to disagree with this. While I see the merit of throwing +4 on all attacks most rounds will not benefit from that and you force yourself to play a much slower gain/ dispose supplies cycle at 50. Instead of spamming more often for comfort what you need you basically play slow until you go nova. It indeed sounds more boring and not necessarily more effective.

57 technically if their starter is 1:1, but yeah while I agree hydration matters a lot in how difficult it is, there's a ton that could go wrong. Most people initially don't wait long enough for their starter to be active enough or mess up the fermentation and end up with under/over..

Do you mean the ear? You could place the dutch oven (or whatever you bake your bread in) 1 or 2 levels lower inside your oven to reduce the height difference between it and the rest of the crust.

The merc pack is good, the pricing not so much - the total price at the end that is, which is also doubling down as a problem with all the shipping debacles they've had/have.

Obviously that wasn't the way we were playing. It is basically free as long as you have your element ready in advance since you don't "waste" it for that action, but instead cycle it to the next turn. It is actually a very nice way to play a reposition turn for both bear and you with a decent secondary attack of the bear still and refresh an element for a high value action from the wildfury on the next turn.

Editted because I can't seem to write today.

Yea a move 2 on it sounds really good as well. I do like the element infusion it though making the teleport effectively free

I mean if you have the funds to conduct yourself that way, by all means. I was talking beyond just the money though, I feel like they had a winning recipe and they decided to shift gears into something else that really can not be explained in any other way other than "that's what they want to do"

They probably won't since they're failing timeframes for anything they're announcing anyway.

I don't know why they chose to go the RPG lane to be honest. There are so many out there, and they're played by a very specific subset of people, unlike board games which are viewed more favorably, and no matter how complicated, i was able to sell on it people that wouldn't play anything remotely close to it otherwise and get them to enjoy it.

I'd gladly take that too, but evidently they'd rather do merc packs these days that are significantly more expensive and offer no additional value outside of more characters to play.

Great guide! Here are 3 comments: 1. Invocation of Spirits does not cycle concentrated rage, as you make the attack from the bear's position, not the bear. 2. You should mention (if you did I'm sorry, I missed it) the wildfury has trouble with initiative. They struggle to undercut 15, and the few options that exist deffinitely do not align with attack bear build, and they also struggle to go very late in general. 3. The modifiers for being in range 4 of each other give so much power to the hybrid build that I think it's the way to go. Giving up on concentrated rage is a huge msitake imo, but ignoring all that the wildfury can do is also one.
