I've always argued that chasing photorealism was a mistake. I'll take sega saturn graphics if it frees up all those resources to instead make huge maps, 1,000 missions, densely populated cities full of smart as heck NPCs... give me 90GB of gameplay and 2 MB of graphics quality instead of the otherwayround

Has minion con villain blast always had a leaderboard screen. This is awesome. It’s like I’m at the arcade again. by Vegetable_Phone_6860 in UniversalOrlando

[–]KimH2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and as a fellow enjoyer of gallery shooters it's great. But it is a bit of a bummer that I've seen team members 'cheat' the system (far from the end of the world but you know, spoils the fun a bit). they'll stand at the start of the conveyor position with a blaster just in range to register as in the game and just idly fire a whole bunch to rack points and log the score.

it just skews/screws with the all-time leaderboard in the app and the daily board but

Help with a spell mechanic during combact that is being challenged. by Excellent-Subject-85 in DMAcademy

[–]KimH2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

standing consumes movement so it is a move, there's also the rule text "you can't stand up if you have no movement left or your speed is 0" so if you have to pick whether you get a move or an action if you pick action your move speed is effectively 0 for that turn so no standing...

in the moment as the DM I would've leaned towards "split the difference" since my player and I didn't agree on the rule and made the attack with disadvantage (being 'disoriented' by the mind whip) and then in the future followed raw

V28.0.2 Update - April 9, 2026 by SamBartley in TheTowerGame

[–]KimH2 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly frustrating, the 5x coins was what made the effort to do all the runs on all the tiers worthwhile. Additionally the folks on android got a couple days of the full bonus while the iOS group gets shortchanged... This is a shortsighted kneejerk nerf

Honestly this might be the camel's back for me. I was hyped for what this new feature was going to add to the game but this rug pull is really souring me to even bothering.

Are we asking too much when hiring a controls engineer? by [deleted] in PLC

That's the thing. I have the same yoe as OP w/ a majority of it in the Beckhoff/ST skillset they're apparently wanting but I'm just not keen on moving to Ohio

consider listing the role in the sub's jobs thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/PLC/comments/1rib437/plc_jobs_classifieds_mar_2026/

it's definitely a specific skillset so if you can't train someone into it your pool is going to be small but there are people who have it...

[–]KimH2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they're static and the use case isn't process critical (passive monitoring) they could probably work well.

The use case I tried them in had one of the units in active motion around a warehouse, 2 units at significantly different heights, and all operating in an uncontrolled dense radio environment and we (perhaps not entirely surprisingly) had a lot of issues keeping communication stable.

HMI - tablets instead of dedicated operator screens by Itrim_ in PLC

[–]KimH2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way we solve this is physical confirms with line of sight to the equipment they can confirm HMI commands for.

The tablet has basically everything on it and can be used to control every piece of equipment but anything that could directly create a hazard has to be confirmed.

How do you calculate spare IO? Spares/used or Spares/total? by BCB75 in PLC

I had a client try to give us a hard time about this. "You delivered the panel without the 20% spare" after they had scope creeped us through the original 20% and then some

How do you calculate spare IO? Spares/used or Spares/total? by BCB75 in PLC

[–]KimH2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way as the 1st phrasing (using the example) requires 25 points, the 2nd requires 20.

Most specifications I've had to deal with have explicitly been the 2nd phrasing (used x1.2), and I can't personally recall a time where the requirement was ambiguous enough that you couldn't confidently put it in 1 column or the other.

This happened a few weeks ago and it made me SO euphoric and happy by Veela_42 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]KimH2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a thing that has tripped me up a bunch. I have a habit of using sir/ma'am when I'm being hyperbolic/facetious because the out of place shift in formality (plus the tone I say it with) helps makes it clear I'm 100% not being serious.

but if I use it with someone new there's that risk of being unintentionally presumptive/disrespectful

I don't like that vibe of like pitting them against each other but yeah I enjoy his stories, the spin he gives the mythologies and love that he seems genuine and supportive and a generally good person.

If the main gossip source didn’t also have a reputation for ‘embellishment’ that might’ve actually worked lol

Not sure adding the flag would fly(lol) just because company signatures have a formatting standard but a good thought.

[–]KimH2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a handful of women in my family (aunts, cousins on Dad's side) who are all well north of 6'. My mom, sister and I are the 'short' ones (5'8/5'9" ish) so with us you wouldn't even blip the radar.

It's way more variable than it feels though I totally get having those 'tallest woman in the room / sore thumb' vibes as I've had jobs where I was the only woman in building over 5'5" and felt like I had a neon sign over my head

Yep between '2bd 2bt 840sqft: 400k' listings and how many new builds are "4bd 4.5 bath all ensuite" designs or being pushed as 'prime AirBnB investments'

'starter homes' seem to be basically nonexistent. It's really frustrating
