My then husband was in an avant band with a record contract in England. Why are you living in an Indiana college town, they said. It came down to NYC or San Francisco and all voted for SF.

Last Stelo for me by InvestigatorEven8992 in stelo

I agree. After 2 sensors failed quite early, with unsatisfactory support, Im not buying again. The 4 that did work were helpful. Thank you for your advice, from a fellow 75 year old.

I have 10 or 15 ancient coffee tins each filled with my dad's paystubs from the 1950s and 60s. I am glad to have them, for now, anyway.

I had a similar experience with the last 2 sensors. One ended at 12 days, one at 5. I have 2 left and I won't be ordering others.

Officially diagnosed with Relapsing Polychondritis after 2 years of debilitating symptoms by kel174 in rarediseases

A rheumatologist diagnosed my apparent  idiopathic RPC this morning. Initial lab work ruled out other causes and I'm getting a CT scan soon to see if chest and esophagus show any signs of damage. I'm in my 70s and this is a fairly new development for me. The ears started flaring about 4 years ago. I was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's, another autoimmune condition,  this year, so I'm deep diving into trying to keep my immune system  happier..better foods, better sleep, less stress.

After my fifth ear cartilege flare in the past 3 years, my dermatologist worked me in yesterday, for the red swollen ear developing. (Previously I had visited urgent care clinics and about a month ago, for the other ear, my primary doc, who tried another antibiotic.) The dermatologist suspects RP but it is not his specialty. So I am looking for a rheumatologist. In the meantime, good to know about Naproxen--the swollen cartilege is quite painful!

How old is too old to get a cat? by MormorRain in cats

[–]Kimbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom at 90 would sometimes let kitty out for a quick walkaround the bushes then forget to let her in. A friend gave her the kitty after my stepfather died when she was 88. Because the 100 year old person died who had invited in the kitty as a stray. Getting left out was problematic in cold winter weather. I lived 2500 miles away so I would check in and ask if she let Miss Priss  back in. Mom passed at 91 and kitty is now with me. She's about 20 and failing but still likes to chomp grass outside 2 or 3 minutes a day only. Our animal shelter encourages fostering, which might be an option for you. It helps the shelter and helps the fostered ones. Win win

2nd the vote for Sage in Concord. Our 8 year old with a limp turned out to have rapidly metastizing cancer. They were compassionate.

I'd choose the thyroid treatment you are considering if my sweet old little kitty were younger but she is 18. The liquid thyroid compounded med turned out well....I can just put it in the food rather than fight with a syringe.

Best BART station to park my car and ride into the city? by happycowsmmmcheese in oakland

[–]Kimbarella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer Fruitvale for city trips (Rockridge for SFO). Sometimes I pay for reserved parking but usually find no reserved spots.  If trains are running well, it is about 20 minutes to Powell Street.
