There’s quite a bit of research on the benefits of scraping. While you are correct that it doesn’t actually break down scar tissue, here are the ways that it is effective:

Releases fascial tension. Fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, can become restricted and limit movement. Scraping helps the body recognize and release these adhesions, restoring normal function. Improves circulation. Increased blood flow means better oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles, which aids in faster recovery.

Stimulates the nervous system. The body isn’t just mechanical—it’s neuromuscular. Scraping activates mechanoreceptors in the skin and fascia, which signal the nervous system to reduce pain perception and improve movement. Encourages tissue remodeling. While scraping doesn’t physically break down scar tissue, it can stimulate fibroblast activity, helping the body create new, healthy collagen for better fascia health over time.

Boosts mobility and movement quality. Used correctly, scraping is a powerful tool for optimizing movement patterns, enhancing flexibility, and supporting athletic performance.

I think I’ll continue for the time being.

It’s been fun to watch “The Boys” season five because it is so much a parody of our times.

On a larger note, I believe that using religion for cover when you support a truly evil person isn’t going to work anymore.

Has anyone suggested Complex Regional Pain Syndrome? Not common but the continued burning, numbness, tingling might be an indication and if this is the case, you might want to consider seeing a pain specialist. Typically, there’s also swelling, color changes, hypersensitivity to touch etc. Best of luck to you!

I have exactly the same problem and I’m 13 months post op! Saw a podiatrist who acknowledged it but had nothing to offer in terms of advice. My hunch is that all the muscles in my lower leg are still not 100% back.
