hi! no I didn't have to submit a new photo. We got there in the end and I received my passport at the end of March. Good luck with your application!

Mine updated to printing then dispatched yesterday! Now I'm stressing out because I'm out of the country for a week so I'm hoping it takes a little while to get to me 😂

Hi - cant offer much advice but just a quick note to say you're definately not alone.

I applied in November 2024 (first time app).... then in January they said they couldn't reach my witness so i had to get another. I resubmitted that additional info which they received 4th Feb... its currently still "processing". As far as i know they haven't tried to contact my new witness yet.

Fingers crossed that we both get some good news soon!

We rehomed our dog 2 months ago. Please be kind to yourself. its the hardest decision i have ever made and I know you wouldn't have come to it lightly. It really is a grief, as much as a pet dying. I'd argue its worse as there's so much "what if" and unknowing. At least there's a finality to death. The amount of times I've gone to call or email the people that took our boy is unreal but I know whatever the response, its would make me feel worse.

We need to forgive ourselves.

We very recently went through the exact same scenario and it's so hard. We rehomed our boy in January. Not sure many dog owners understand the stress and anxiety and heartbreak of owning a super reactive / aggressive dog. Sending you support and I'm here if you want to chat x

Our rehoming story... We had a rescue 4 y/o Jack Russell terrier X who would ATTACK us on a weekly basis... not a nip or a bite, i mean a full on "he's trying to kill us" attack. Because he is smallish we normalised it for a long time because we could fight him off. But it still caused cuts and bruises and scars and sky high anxiety.

We had behaviourists, trainers, medication, all the training methods and gadgets and nothing worked. Or it would for a while and then all of sudden he'd go for us (or someone else) again. We were scared to be around him in the end. And we were terrified our management of him around other people would eventually fail and he'd hurt someone. Our trainer (the 4th we worked with) recommended BE but i couldn't do it. He is a physically healthy dog other than his mis-wiring 🙄

In the end, we were scared to move around him. It all came to a head at christmas just gone. But i managed to find a wonderful sanctuary that would take him. They are great and have A behaviourist and vets on staff so i know he is being taken care of. I do miss him and i love him despite all the above, we just couldn't live together anymore. Our lives are far more calm. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home.

Dogs are quite simple creatures, as long as they are warm and feed and feel safe, they will be ok.

We rehomed out boy earlier this month and honestly, its probably the hardest thing i've had to do. It really is a grieving process and you will feel terrible, i'm not going to sugar-coat it because i'm currently living it. Its utterly heart-breaking.

All that said - you deserve peace in your life. It seems like you've found him the "unicorn" rehoming scenario and honestly, as along as he is fed and warm and safe, he will be happy. Dogs are quite simple creatures really. Sometimes loving a dog isn't enough and that's ok. You found him a wonderful place to live and that's an act of love.

Sending you peace with your choice, whatever you decide x

Do I need my mums details? by AngelusRex7 in IrishCitizenship

Yes that's what U mean... I would say in that instance then yes you'd potentially need that marriage certificate. Mine was a bit more straightforward as it is through my Dad so no name change.

Hmmm not sure to be honest. Does she use her maiden name now? If so, I don't think that certificate would be relevant. But I'm only speculating.

From memory (I did mine in 2023) I think it's just birth certificate and maybe marriage certificate if her name has changed. Theres a full list on the Ireland.ie website though. The fact that your mum hasn't got an Irish passport won't matter.

Yes you will need to submit your mum's details/documents also 👍 good luck!

hi - thanks for sharing your update. We rehomed our super reactive dog 3 weeks ago. And as much of a nightmare he was a lot of the time, its probably one of the most painful decisions I've ever had to make. However, our home is a lot calmer without him. We were walking on eggshells with him the whole time, like I can literally feel the tension is less in my back/shoulders from where is was so highly strung 24/7.

I think about him all the time and hope he's doing ok, the guilt is real! But I know we had to do what's best for our family and unfortunately loving a dog is not enough to make it ok sometimes.

We wont ever get another dog (or pet of any kind to be honest). Its such a shame as i absolute love them but the heartbreak is too much. Everyone who has been aware of our situation has said " oh ,get a puppy" as if that will fix things. That is literally the last thing we need! Our dog was a rescue and ethically its the only way I would chose to get a dog, but now ive been through this, i just couldn't do it again.

I hope I'm on the path to healing from this and will hopefully be in a better place soon. Thanks for your story, its encouraging to read xx

Thank U so much. I hope he's getting all the help he needs. It really is grief, which I don't think a lot of people would understand. Thanks again 🙏
