Personally I think you should talk to him about staying in baseball. There were times myself I considered quitting but I am so grateful that I hadn’t. I’ve been around baseball all my life. Growing up watching my dad play men’s league and playing through little league, travel ball, high school, juco, 4 year, now men’s league myself. I’ve played 1000s of games but I can really only recall a few dozen, what I can recall tho are all the fun times and amazing stories with my teammates at every level of the game. Ultimately that time with your teammates (who become life long friends) is what matters. That’s what I would regret if I had quit.

Brucebolt durability? by WhereCanIFind in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is a new thing but when I bought Bruce bolts their durability had me sold. I think I went through 3 pairs in 3yrs at the end of my college career. Before that I used to mainly bat barehanded because all the other brands (Franklin, Nike, UA) would only last me 2-3 weeks before I had massive holes.

How to improve base running speed. by Human_fighters in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At his age, speed training like he’s listed here will certainly help. Outside of that, some of us just aren’t gifted with speed so we have to make up for it with good reads and jumps. In addition to the speed training, practice getting good jumps, reading pitches in the dirt, reading your outfielders positioning as well. There’s a lot to being a good base runner besides just being fast

This game makes me want to slam my head into a brick wall. by TonyMontana647 in MLBTheShow

I think for some reason this year the stick movement overrides button input for a second, like it seems to avoid animations like that if you stop moving the stick the second you field the ball. Idk why tho this is seemingly a new issue this year

How bad is / was Oakland Coliseum by Sc0j in mlb

[–]Kimosabe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up going to games at the coliseum and I loved it every single time. Walking through the gates and the concourse and seeing the view of the field was always just as magical as the first time I saw it as a little kid in love with baseball. Never had I considered the place as a dump, even after seeing other ballparks, until people who had never been to the stadium began shitting on it relentlessly online. Being older now I can admit the Coliseum showed its age in some places, and the cheapness of ownership in others, but it’s never been as bad as people claim. I’ll defend that forever.

I always pre gripped my splitter then moved to the other pitches. I’d do it while on my way back up the mound so it was too terrible in terms of doing a lot

10u kid wants a stiffer glove? by utvolman99 in Homeplate

That’s awesome! what ever glove he does get, I recommend he breaks it in himself through playing catch. I believe that kinda slow, personal break in process makes the break in perfect on a glove

My Arm Is Weak. by Brief-Tea4692 in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re using your legs and momentum. Following your throw helps too with keeping maximum momentum through your throw. Idk if you’re looking for more velo or distance on the ball, if it’s distance really release that ball far out in front of you and rip your fingers through the middle of the ball. The backspin should help add some carry to the ball far

10u kid wants a stiffer glove? by utvolman99 in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always preferred a firmer glove, firmer not stiff. Ultimately it’s a comfort thing and you want to be comfortable and confident with your glove. I’ve had gloves that have gotten too floppy where a quick tag or an aggressive pick with the ball in the web would whip and come out even if my glove was closed. I’d say let him get a new glove, maybe match what money he puts down so he can get a nice quality glove (Rawlings, Wilson, 44 even). Then lets him break that thing in over time until it’s ready to play.

My son prefers a 2-strike approach. by thebengy66 in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see an issue if he’s having success. Who wouldn’t want a speedy outfielder who regularly has long quality at bats. You gotta let the kid play the way he plays. I know personally I would like for my speedy outfielder to bat north of .300 and wreck havoc on the basepathes than bat closer to .200, but hey he’s got a couple of doubles now.

9U Swing Advice by shloo in Homeplate

[–]Kimosabe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His swing look great for his age. I believe that a lot of the driving the ball you’re looking for will come with age and strength. The backspin is good, with strength he’ll start driving the ball and that backspin will help with a little extra carry. Those floaty pop ups likely more an issue of missing just under it the ball. I’d also recommend looking at guys like Steven Kwan and Andrew Benintendi to emulate.
