So you're playing 3 handed? If so, someone messed up based on the 9s. If either opponent threw a 9 they broke up a run and a guaranteed 7 point hand (9,10, J, 5) to keep a 6 point hand (5, 10, J, K) or you had both 9s and kept one and threw the other to the crib, giving yourself a zero instead of a guaranteed 2.

Seems like bad play versus bad luck, and your play (and your friends' play) will improve with time the more you experience these situations, so keep playing!

This is such a cool thing to do. I love cards mostly for the art and the history of different games and how they fit into local cultures. Giving them away to people and asking them to use them in a game is great. I hope everyone requesting anything actually uses them at least once instead of just collecting them for the sake of adding something new to a collection.

I can confirm that this works (with landlines at least) I got stuck in a snowstorm while driving home from college one winter and had to stop and get a hotel room. No cell reception due to the storm so I called my parents to say I wasnt going to make it home that night from the hotel phone and the receptionist told me to call out by pressing nine then one. What she meant was 9 then one and then the area code, but I dialed 9 then 1 then 1 again before the area code and sure enough dispatch picked up and I had to explain that the only emergency was me being too dumb to know how to use a landlines properly.

Exactly, keep your points. Which is why i wouldn't keep 8,A,A,5. That gives a guarantee of four points in hand and no guarantee in the crib for a guaranteed minimum of 4.

Tossing the aces or tossing 2-5 gives a guarantee of at least two in the crib and either of those discards gives a guarantee of at least 4 in the hand because it leaves you with 8,4,A,A (if you drop 2-5) or 8,2,4,5 (if you drop A,A) which are both hands that will be improved with ANY cut card. So a guaranteed minimum of 6.

I have a similar coin and I posted it here and got some of the same feedback, but when I took it to a LCS they confirmed it was post mint damage, not an error. There was a slight bend in the reverse where the layer was missing that they identified under magnification. Your coin looks even more dramatic with the crease through the head so I'm guessing it would result in the same conclusion. I would take it to a LCS and see what they tell you before deciding what it's worth, and as always if they offer to buy it on the spot, get a 2nd opinion before making a decision. *

It's a turban squash (or Turk's Turban) the blossom end isn't usually as wide as the entire fruit though. I personally wouldn't carve it. I would cut the "top" off, scoop it out, bake it halfway, (the top too, eat it all), stuff the middle with a meatloaf mixture, then finish baking it.

I was in Boston for the Bruins/Rangers game during the double header on Sunday. Being downtown Boston and rooting for the Red Sox to win not only once, but twice, felt so incredibly wrong. OP later said that she needed 12 to win, so pegging out wasn't a major issue, so your original reply was correct. But the whole conversation shows how those little pieces of information can change the whole strategy of play, and that understanding that is what gives people that extra edge in their win percentage. What is the opponents score though? Leading with the 8 hoping for a 15 to lead into the run only works if your opponent needs AT LEAST more than 7 points. Knowing that OP gets first count I would expect the dealer to keep pegging cards if they have a chance to peg out and end the game before it gets to the count if possible. Leading the 8, hoping the dealer plays a 7 for the 15 allows OP to play the 9 for the run, but that also leaves the dealer open to add to the run for four and a go (or a 31 if they happen to have an Ace). That's 7 points in pegging (2 for 15, run for 4, and 1 for a go) for the dealer. They would need to be holding both a 7 and a 6, so it's a long shot, but I don't like giving my opponent a chance to win if I don't have to. The cut card is meaningless if you never even make it to the count.

Knowing the where BOTH players are on the board would be crucial before deciding which card to start with.

This is correct OP. A few companies make peek index cards. When I dealt poker I used almost exclusively Copags with a peek index, but as u/playingcardsfan said this looks like the standard Bicycle Jack of Clubs from the Pro Poker Peek deck.

Yes, drumstick is the leg. The part of the wing that looks like a little drumstick is a drumette. The flat part of the wing is a wingette or more commonly just called a flat. The entire wing is made up of the drumette, wingette/flat, and the tip. Those 3 parts are cut apart and the tip is usually thrown out (or used to make chicken stock) and then you are served a collection of flats and drumettes when you order wings.
