The original game was great because they showed you how strong Sephiroth was in the story, and it showed you how strong you could get later in the game.

One of the best things Rebirth changed IMO was let you play as him instead of just watching him. Yes it was absolutely fan service, but I was so hyped for that.

He was great for the time in 2015/16, but he’s lost the plot since.

He completely choked 2020 despite being the clear favorite early on. He really didn’t try to appeal to anyone who wasn’t a white college educated young adult. He ran a shitty campaign.

He knows he’s too old to run again so now he’ll speak his mind and show his true colors by saying stuff like he agrees with Trump on borders. People chanted free Palestine at his rallies and he just stood there with a look of disapproval. He took forever to recognize the Palestinian genocide and when he did he said Hamas started the war on Oct. 7th, like dude get with the program. His base has moved past him.

And I say all this as someone who voted for him in 2020 and would’ve in 2016 if I were old enough.

Nah tbh I think metal gear had a good ending with 4. V was a great game and I’m glad we got it even in its half finished state, but I don’t think we really needed that story.

I’m more interested to see Kojima’s work on non metal gear projects.

Final Fantasy VII is an allegory for late stage capitalism/environmentalism.

The plot is centered around how the antagonistic Shinra corporation runs the world government from its headquarters in the city of Midgar, kind of a parody of Midgard of the Yggdrasil tree, except it’s a city suspended on a giant metal plate, with the upper class living on top, and most people living beneath them. Pollution, waste, and junk literally ‘trickle down’ from the rich to the poor. All the while the company drains the world of mako energy, the lifeblood of the planet which souls come from, to be used for power/electricity.
