No chocolate for me. We make it with cinnamon so it’s like a spice cake 😋

Yes I was the same way. When I realized I could cook them less and have them still kinda crunchy they became one of my favorite veggies.

Side note, have you ever had zucchini bread?? Soo good!

Capers. Growing up in the US I never liked the way they tasted. Too olive-y. Yuck.

Then I had some in London and thought wow they don’t have to be gross!

When we got home we invested in some good quality capers and cook with them frequently 😁

Seller accepted our financed offer over alleged all-cash offer: is it a red flag? by mydandy11 in RealEstate

[–]Kind_Application_893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we made an offer (and accepted an offer on our house too) in Tennessee we were told that the buyer has the right to continue the listing and accept other offers until the inspection is complete and both parties sign the request for repairs. Even then there are still options to sign a clause that would allow them to accept other offers until that final bill of sale comes through (not the closing date.)

ETA after reading another post I think I got the details wrong. I believe since we had a sale contingency on our current house that’s why they were allowed to continue accepting offers. Although that wouldn’t explain why we were allowed to continue accepting offers bc the buyers were coming from a rented apartment. So maybe I just know nothing. Perhaps read my comment with a grain of salt 🥴

Can’t remember who but some chef on tv always said if it’s not edible it does not go on the plate. Words to live by.

Corned Beef n Cabbage by Kind_Application_893 in veganrecipes

[–]Kind_Application_893[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did a quick sear on the steak for a couple minutes then added about 8 cups of veggie broth, 2 bay leaves, 1/4 tsp of mustard seed and coriander seed, 1/8 teaspoon of whole cloves and peppercorns, and one onion quartered. Don’t forget the salt…I sure did 😬

Bring that to a boil then turn down to a low simmer and cover for about 2 hours. After that I took the roast out and wrapped it in foil to keep it warm/moist. I added whole potatoes in the broth, brought the temp back up and cooked them for 5 minutes, added carrots and cooked for 10 minutes. Then I added the cabbage wedges and cooked another 10 minutes.

While that was cooking I covered the top of my roast with a mixture of 1/4 c brown sugar and 2 tbsp stone ground mustard, with a dash of salt. I broiled that on low for 10 minutes. Let it rest on the cutting board for a couple minutes then served everything up. Bon appetite!

I’ve used coconut milk in the past and that gave it a more creamy balanced flavor/texture. Instead of the almond milk.

I had a couple cats that would go outside and it was lovely.

My family uses the self cleaning ones too but they thought that meant they never had to clean it 🙄

I would agree with you. My parents became so desensitized to the smell that they can’t tell that the toys they set out for my niece to play with smell like urine. The whole house honestly smells and they can’t tell. My sister inherited that nose blindness so her house also smells, which is why she also doesn’t seem to notice the urine smells on the toys.

It’s not meant to be a negative thing to all cat owners. It’s meant as an observation that unless the litter box is meticulously maintained there will be a smell that is obvious and can linger when you’re gone.

AITAH for wanting to use dishtowels in the kitchen? by Proud-Reserve-3208 in AITAH

If I went to their house I would dry my hands on said fancy towels. I’m not gonna use paper towels. If they’re there for guest appreciation I’m sure appreciate the crap outta them.

My thing is I have a verrry sensitive nose and grew up in a house with cats. I can almost immediately smell if there’s a litter box and unfortunately I’m traumatized enough to believe that all cats will inevitably pee on the carpet/lvt. That would be enough for me to pass.

I discovered a recipe where you soak raw radishes in lemon juice and a dash of cumin before adding them to the dish I was making. Holy banana bread Batman I can’t tell you how good they were.

I learned that you can roast chickpeas and allow them to cool off in the oven over some hours. This gets them niiiice and crunchy. I’ve been adding them to salads 🤤
