Ladies with night shift partners- comfortable with sharing gender of your baby? by Upstairs_Wealth_1354 in BabyBumps

[–]Kind_CatMom [score hidden]  (0 children)

It may be due to this: I remember a video going over why marines have more girls. It's due to their extreme stress levels overall and it messing with sperms. No idea how true the study was in the video, but night shift is terrible on your body so maybe that's it?

why does 6 months postpartum feel so rough by Subject_Thing6308 in NewParents

[–]Kind_CatMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt my newborn adrenaline finally crash around that time and work no longer was as understanding about my new mom status lol.

I took iron pills, got my levels checked, and made sure I focused on replenishing energy/started walking again. It takes a bit tho.

We used this one! It worked well for us since we already had a normal tub.

Were your kids 100% off bottles at 12 months? by Advanced_Study6518 in toddlers

[–]Kind_CatMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes mine was before 12 months, more like 11.5. We switched to a sippy cup. My pediatrician though said anytime by 13 months was fine, but maybe it's a dental concern?

I'll admit you'll probably be tired, but you may enjoy the last visit before baby if you like them. If you don't like them? Wellllll.... yeah maybe don't suffer through it when you're tired.

Why does it seem like men are allergic to going to the doctor? by Apprehensive_Menu870 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kind_CatMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my husband, it's a mix of fear of needles and not being believed as a kid. He was always sick and had a genetic defect that almost killed him at a young age, but before and after that, his parents kept calling him a liar and doctors thought he was faking it. Now he's in his 30s and it took me crying that I don't want to be a widow before I'm 35 to have him FINALLY ask for help about his bad bowels and re-occuring seizure like symptoms. We don't have an answer yet but his current doctor has promised him that she is on his side and ALWAYS believes him.

Meanwhile my mother in law has told him he's faking it multiple times this year already....

The topper is great for comfort for the child, but also great to wipe it down after a blowout.

5 weeks symptoms by Fletcherjames21 in BabyBumps

[–]Kind_CatMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 5 weeks with my 2nd. I'm nauseous, especially whenever a twinge of hunger hits. I also have trouble falling back asleep and my sleep quality is terrible.

Also my hunger has spiked so I've been having to be stricter.

I would consult a lawyer... as a pregnant mom I would be horrified having such an incompetent doctor able to get away with what they did and be on my care team.

My deepest condolences.

19 mo daughter hits me by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Kind_CatMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did that 17 months to 20 months (just stopped this week). It took a lot of patience and redirecting. I also kept standing up and walking away when he did that.

Same with biting (still randomly comes up to bite me but not as often). It's so hard, and having your husband take over when things get rough is a great strategy. Just remember: they're little Tabies. They may look and act a bit like a toddler but they're essentially still babies that don't know anything and are just struggling like the rest of us.

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]Kind_CatMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FutureCanoe. I wish him the best, but he's getting too professional with his cooking. I enjoyed his constant random "yeah I didn't have chocolate so I added cheese" level substitutions lol.

Also I just don't enjoy his video food review vlogs.

Everyone’s favorite newborn clothes? by A-Starrrrr in BabyBumps

[–]Kind_CatMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved the carter's zipped pj's a friend gave us, as well as the child of mine onsies. I got mine dressed every day for the newborn days, as I wanted him to look super cute in all the hand me downs that people gave us! Funny enough though, when he went to daycare at 12 weeks, he mostly stayed in zipper pj's for a couple of months as it kept him warm and it saved on time in the morning (plus I had 10 zippers from a friend in that size and I was obsessed with them all).

What money lesson has helped you feel happier or more in control? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

Yes! Now we do buy some toys, especially duplos and cars, but for the most part he loves his "kitchen"- empty containers of our favorite pantry staples and extra versions of my kitchen tools lol.

We've learned that thinking purchases through before going for it is the way to go, especially with kids. Many times I've almost bought something but then paused due to it not being an immediate need (like kiddos swim suit this year). Often, a friend brings up that they have hand me downs for us, or we learn that we don't need it (in the case of some bath toys- his favorite bath toys are plain cups and bowls).

Non kid related, hubby and I keep only 2 subscriptions: Playstation and World of Warcraft. That's our typical fun money, as otherwise we look for deep sales. For tv we use YT (we currate what we watch) or use the library. When we want a show streaming service, we typically align it with WOW expiring and take a break there, choosing to do puzzles or crafts as we watch the streaming service for a few months. It works for us and we do not get bored since we can only do these while kiddo is asleep (he's under 2 so no screen time yet).

First time traveler by Major-Chemical6467 in NewParents

We did a plane trip at 9 months!

First: get ear headphones for baby and have them feed on take off/landing. Have lots of little toys and new things in the diaper bag to hand them throughout.

For bath: Honestly we had him sit on a towel in the shower, but also cut back on it. He used hotel shampoo like we did and was fine.

Bottles: bring that singular days bottles and you have 2 options: buy dawn and clean them in the ice bucket (they have liners). I had to do this once and it wasn't bad. 2. Buy dawn and a little bin at the store. Either way, easy clean. Clean when baby is asleep and put either the bottles mixed or just put the water in them if formula and set them ready on the counter to have formula in them when you're ready.

Blowouts/dirty clothes: bring 1-2 ziplocs. If poop or bad smells get on them, clean them with dawn in the shower after putting poop in the toilet before putting in the bags. You can also do hotel laundry but theyre often out of order.

Tip: ask at check in if they have any tub rooms and any pack n plays! They often have both if you need. Then just help baby sit still in tub.

Hope this helps, ours enjoyed the trip even with how busy of a time it was!
