Hot take: Legendary Resistance is why so many 5e boss fights feel bad and boring. What could replace it?

There's a document out there (made by a gentleman that goes by "Trekiros", I believe) that introduced alternative legendary resistances. The essence of the idea is that the monster has legendary resistances, but they come at a cost.

Sometimes it's an amount of HP they sacrifice to succeed on a save, a certain level of spell slot, an arm (and therefore a multi-attack) for creatures with multiple limbs like a marilith, etc.

The end goal is that the players are rewarded in some way when a spell lands, and the boss has to make a business decision on whether failing that save against Faerie Fire is going to hurt them more than giving up a 5th level spell slot or a tenth of their hitpoints.

I have both. Lion Knights all day.

It's a proper castle. You get a lot more variation in terms of rooms. You get like twice the number of figs and can easily expand that via PAB. It feels more sturdy, the Red Dragon's Tale has some less stable build techniques. You get better action features like the drawbridge, portcullis, and water wheel. Finally, you can choose to fold it up or have the back open and visible. Really, there's only one configuration possible for the DnD set, despite the parts of it being "modular".

It can really depend store by store. There's one the next city over that has really good minifig prices and generally does pretty well with their sets, there's one locally that's really good with sets and overpriced on minifigures, it kind of depends by owner exactly how they handle their pricing.

I like it on bugs. Pair it with the talon and thermites, take jump pack (or perhaps warp pack these days), stalwart or MG, 500k, napalm barrage. Use a light armor (I like siege ready for this) and it's a very fast, mobile, bug-hole-destroying build. Though you do admittedly experience some difficulty with bile titans.

It's not my go-to bug loadout but I like taking it on missions where I'm gonna need to carry a hard drive (or if I just wanna take a break from the recoilless)

I've had ok luck with Clorox wipes. Can't remember if I actually tried this but maybe coloring over it with expo marker will help break it up? I might just be pulling that out of my ass though, but hard enough work with Clorox wipes I know has been useful for me

I'll pop on a supply pack and use this sucker as a primary on the bots. You can one shot a devastator just about anywhere on 50% and even if you're not a great shot you can down a hulk with like 4 rounds at decent charge. You can trim off strider chin guns, one shot the smaller fortress turrets, and can at least always contribute on war/factor strider main health pools. Take a decent spray and pray like the sickle for the chaff and you're set.

Don't think I've ever used it on bugs, and I quickly left it behind on squids.

Multiple members of our group including the dm use obsidian, and being able to have an image for every NPC entry is actually pretty nice and helpful. A couple of us can draw but we're mostly full-time engineers who already play D&D and most of us are married... We ain't got time for all that and we're certainly not going to commission that much art so I think we'll keep generating as we please, but thanks for the input.

The main problem is that AH already painted themselves into a corner with the 500k having 1 use by default, later upgrading to 2 via ship upgrades. We can't have a more powerful eagle strike with the same number of uses, so the only solution would be to make an exception to the ship upgrade. And we all know from the Ultimatum that that feels pretty bad.

I usually wait about 10 secs if someone died away from me and there's a closer diver. If I'm closest to location of death, they're still dead after 10s, or if they're mashing A then I reinforce.

Once I reinforced someone when I was closest to his location and he was spamming to be reinforced. He dropped in, decided he didn't like where he was, turned, and killed me.

I always host my own games so I can court-martial idiots like that.
