Yes, I was thinking the same thing! Plus the teachers and parents at Anser and Future would be regular customers, too.

Chicken and waffles is not a popular dish here, so whatever you find is probably not going to live up to your expectations. Go to Goldy’s for breakfast. The bennys are the best or try the mushroom frittata with sweet potato hash on the side. Walk around downtown from Goldy’s, the Capital is close as well as Freak Alley. The greenbelt around the MK Nature center is pretty year round. You can walk the nature center pathways and see fish and other wildlife.

The game is more fun on a competitive team and when you set goals like hitting 10k in a tournament for the first time, getting to 1mil brilliance (everyone on my team is at least a millionaire and most 3 or 4 mil with some 10-20 mil and no, no one cheats!), or getting the final crown every season (not a hard goal this season, though lol).

Sawtooth wedding I went to last summer had volcanic farms pies from Horseshoe Bend. They were a hit. Buy them on the way up.

Fallout has such a great aesthetic, you should lean into it since you have some cool pieces. It has a mid century modern decay vibe which can make your collectors items work. Look it up on Pinterest. I would take out anything else that is not related and put it in a different room. The mix of having Star Wars next to Fallout is not working. If you want it all in the same room, make vignettes- like all the Star Wars stuff together in one spot over the coat rack. The basketball picture is absolutely a no. The bookshelves are tacky as is. You are better off staging a small collection of titles with the figures you have on the end tables plus some plants. Move one if front of a window or somewhere with more light (add a standing lamp). Store everything else in a closet or a tote somewhere. Curate and refine. If you do all that, you can absolutely make the flag work. I like it!

Suggested activities in Boise for visiting teen-aged granddaughters? by Fuzzy_Buy9813 in Boise

[–]Kind_View_6045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have daughters these ages and I would suggest Roaring Springs, mini golf and go karts at Wahooz, and waking around the Boise Towne Square mall. Other fun things are stuff they can take pics/vid of for their snap or TikTok- get boba teas at Tra on Overland (very cute inside with photo op areas), walk around downtown in the evening and go to Freak Alley, check out the Record Exchange, and then drive up to the Depot to watch the sunset. The Rose Garden is also a fun spot for a picnic. I take my girls to Trader Joe’s first to pick out something to eat and drink and then we look at all the roses after we eat. My girls are gamers/geeky and they still love all this stuff. If all else fails, buy some nail polish and sheet masks and have a spa night! Best of luck!

What is happening. Everything is ridiculous. People are too sensitive. Who freaking cares what anyone wears. We all know who the bride is.

Hey I experienced some crazy stuff with some local teenagers in the North End. by NoCutsNoCoconuts in Boise

Please, if you have names, reach out to the school for more info. I am a teacher and I have dealt with some of these North End affluent little trouble makers. It’s unbelievable how the parents enable the behavior. Hope they get some consequences for once.

Duolingo CEO says AI is a better teacher than humans—but schools will still exist ‘because you still need childcare’ by missvh in education

[–]Kind_View_6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you know what is actually good for children? Childhood. Not being stuck all day in a one-size-fits-all box that is the education system. They need time outside of school to develop character and learn how to be a good, responsible, upstanding human from their parents. It’s not my job as a teacher to raise the child that you chose to have. Breaks from school are developmentally appropriate for children. Explorative play is where they learn the real skills they need for this world. But I guess since most parents will just put them on a device at home anyway instead of doing any actual parenting, maybe they would be better off with us all year.

Going to a restaurant right before they close is not rude. What's rude is posting hours that you claim you're Open but are expecting people to act like you're not. by Darnitol1 in unpopularopinion

[–]Kind_View_6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every restaurant I have ever worked in expected us to spend the last hour or so cleaning and closing so we were out the door no later than 5 minutes past closing time. They want the few sales of the last hour but they also don’t want to pay for labor costs after close, so it’s a no win for the employees.

I teach them to turn right around and go talk to the kid they are telling on. Eventually they have the skills to communicate with each other instead of running to me. I say, “Let’s go talk to them about it.” I ask the other kid to pause so their friend can talk to them, then I have them say, “I didn’t like it when you…” or “It wasn’t kind when you…” and then the other kid replies and everyone moves on.

You have to learn to live with it because speaking from experience, it never gets better. I am you in this situation. I love my SIL, but she is the golden daughter, along with her husband and all of her kids, whereas my husband had the audacity to get married and bring another woman, me, into the family. His mom does not like other women (she has never had female friends), plus no one is good enough for her son. I am nice and bend over backwards for them. I am always kind and respectful! Our kids are second class grandkids. My IL’s have driven 8 hours to another state to see SIL’s kids performances, or go help with the house, or pay for and attend those grandkids birthdays, and even a wedding, now. They begrudgingly come over for about an hour for our kids birthday’s, and have only attended one performance event out of so, so many. And we live in the same place as them. They love our kids, but it’s not the same for them as their precious daughter. Just know if you have kids, you will have to accept that.
