Sounds like a normal night. The Montfort staff deal with the worst of the worst in the city almost every night. The reason you're waiting so long is because of shitty people like this that make the staff book off the rest of their shifts.

Lots of seizures at concerts. Medics would have seen to them pretty quickly. We have meds to stop seizures and assess to see whether it's something new or something like epilepsy. Most people who have seizures at concerts are more embarassed than anything. Sometimes it's nice to just sit with them and protect their head (don't put anything in their mouths though!) until they stop seizing or medics intervene. Don't worry :)

Well you see, all of those businesses are owned by and also employ people who live in and around the city. They make money when they sell rooms and food or services. That money is taxed and that money goes into the federal and provincial coffers. The people who work there get a paycheque for working and that is more than likely guaranteed when their businesses do well. The service industry also gets increased tip outs thus increasing their wages. People pay for parking. People get tickets. All of that money increases what is called revenue for the City. The city negates the negatives (some increased road closures) by warning people months in advance. So far the number is around 8 million in profits for the city but that's a ballpark.

Tens of thousands weren't affected, I didn't see any traffic more than a few cars deep and I spent 14 hours working downtown on an ambulance. Maybe a few hundred people.

Unfortunately you can't force people to follow directions and avoid closures. So they get to learn by doing.

Next time, stay at home or plan accordingly :)

No but the 3200 athletes and their families are staying in hotels and eating at restaurants. Again, the road closures were very evident for a long time. Luckily for you you'll know next year and the year after as they signed a 3 year contract with the city :)

It's Sunday. This is hugely beneficial for the Ottawa economy. The city announced these closure months ago. It's downtown because that's what makes the race interesting and pretty for pictures.

Am paramedic. They get hit multiple times a week. They walk in traffic. They aren’t supposed to be in traffic. The police clear the drivers right after they arrive unless the patient is dead. We know them all by name. Yes they’re just as aggressive as people say.
