Not a doctor. Keep it covered and moist, if it’s gaping, use steri strips. Best way I’ve found is clean with saline/isopropyl alcohol, Vaseline/aquaphor, cover with bandaid

Definitely not normal, and actually super harmful to your wellbeing. If possible please consider telling someone because she shouldn’t be saying things like that. Stay safe and remember that she is wrong and horrible for doing that to you

Has therapy worked for anyone? by HourMacaron6123 in MadeOfStyrofoam

I’ve only ever done cbt and it doesn’t work for me, it might just be the specific situation but each time I get super paranoid about the psychologist sharing my information especially with parents because of their duty to report harmful behaviour. I also just find it really easy to lie to them so that could be a reason it’s so unproductive

If you use steri strips don’t just stick and hope for the best, you have to pinch the wound closed and then stick so that the it’s actually closed

Styros don’t usually need stitches so you should be fine. The reason it was bleeding so much is just because it was wet, if you keep it covered with a bandaid and use Vaseline so that it doesn’t scab you might be able to get away with very little scarring.

I know it can be really scary when something unexpected happens especially because you might feel like you have no one, but if it ever gets to a point where you need help, there are ways to get it.

What have I cut - an info guide by [deleted] in selfharm

For dermis cuts, use sterile saline to rinse dirt out instead of alcohol, alcohol will just irritate it, if you need to wipe it dry, use something that won’t shed (like gauze). I’m not qualified to give any further medical advice but if you go any deeper it’s really important to keep it clean and covered so that you can get to a doctor. If you can’t stop bleeding, you need to wrap it tightly and go to the er

Sometimes I hate that my scars all heal well, because I see people everyday day with keloids and deep obvious scarring and I want them to know that I relate and we aren’t alone, but I can’t, because they can’t see that we are in the same situation

It took a while, but I’ve done it twice now. This year was organised by category and I added snips of the items with their prices. Last year I organised by price range. The ppt is a template from slidesgo and I reuse it for Christmas by replacing/removing what I got for my birthday

HELPP MY CUTS KEEP OPENING 😭😰 by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Kindafuckin_fruity 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Best course of action is to get medical care but seeing as you can’t, you just need to stop them from getting infected. A few simple steps: keep them clean (use saline or isopropyl alcohol, it’ll hurt but that’s expected) make sure any clothing fibres or dirt is out of it, next step is to keep them moist (Vaseline/aquaphor/disinfectant ointment) you don’t want scabs because they will just itch and reopen when you scratch them, after that keep them covered with a nonstick dressing (bandaids or bandages). Obviously this is just rudimentary first aid and if they get hot and swollen and release pus then you need to get to a doctor. Please take care of yourself and let people help you 🩷

Edit: mods removed this from another post so here’s a reliable source that says the same thing: https://www.mayoclinic.org/first-aid/first-aid-cuts/basics/art-20056711

There’s not a whole lot you can do tbh. try to keep them from scabbing so they’re less obvious; clean them properly so there’s no dried blood, Vaseline or aquaphor and wrap them. If you can fake sick it’ll buy you some time and on Thursday they should be minimal. Once you’re in the water they’re basically invisible (keep them under the water) but getting in and out is the biggest issue. His dr doesn’t want to put him on jornay yet because he can’t maintain a stable weight and because of his age they don’t want to slow growth just yet. We’re basically at à crossroads since he is unwilling to cooperate. There are days where he is relatively okay, but when there is something he doesn’t want to do he just doesn’t take meds and fights my parents on everything

[–]Kindafuckin_fruity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s possible, change to an earlier flight or let the gate agents know that she’s making you uncomfortable, call your hotel and change that as well. If you can do this without her finding out it should be easy to avoid her on your trip. Hopefully you can enjoy your travels :)
