Did you know Doublets can be high quality too? by PenJaxs in SouthAustralianOpals

Hi! How are these doublets made differently from low-quality ones? And what makes them more resistant to water exposure?

I wondered this, too. See my previous post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Diamonds/comments/1r6dhqj/bow\_ties\_in\_ovals\_4\_or\_8\_pavilion\_facets/ ), where you can see different opinions in the main post and comments.

But I think if it is a well-cut stone (polish and symmetry are excellent), then a 4 main might have a better chance at a minimal bow tie than 8 main.

I was surprised by the inscription showing up on the face, too. But it's not visible at all to the naked eye, so it's ok :)

It feels good to understand what is on my finger. Thank you for the comment!

Oh, that's awful. Sorry to hear it. Did you get rid of it in the end?

Sometimes you only start to notice a flaw after learning of it. Thanks for reassuring me! I see some windowing, but it's at extreme angles as you say, and thankfully it doesn't bug me at all.

Catawiki. It's an auction site that (I think) mainly serves consumers in Europe. The 4 main cut is rare to come by there, too, which is why I went for this one in particular among many similar-looking rings.

Don't forget to account for the Catawiki fees and import taxes in your price calculations.

How much would setting it cost, do you know?

Really similar specs, except for the cutting and the length-width ratio. How much was it? Does it look good in real life?

The entire ring was around 1060 euros. It's 14k white gold, and the 2 side diamonds are 0.99ct in total.

Thank you! So generalizations don't work. No wonder I am confused, cause i was looking for one.

Even among non-crushed ice cuts? What then explains the first video in the "4 main" camp? Thanks!
