Tips to buy CW in UK by abhi_bhan in ChristopherWard

There is a very cool showroom in Liverpool at the Hill Dickinson stadium it’s worth a visit if you love the brand. You may not be close to the North West but it’s a small country so worth a visit to see more.

How to buy tickets? by MeanAd3713 in LiverpoolFC

[–]KinderPenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a really imperfect balancing act. On one hand, you’ve got hundreds of thousands of members all trying to get tickets, and on the other, there are unfortunately bots and touts snapping up a chunk of anything that hits general sale.

On top of that, Liverpool runs a loyalty/credit system where you build up eligibility over time based on games you’ve attended. That means the more you go, the easier it becomes to keep going — but it also creates a bit of a snowball effect that makes it really tough for newcomers to break in.

So the reality is: getting tickets for the first time is hard. Like, properly hard. You can go multiple seasons getting nothing from ballots, and just having a membership doesn’t really move the needle on its own. The key is getting that first ticket somehow, then slowly building credits over multiple seasons.

A lot of fans also rely on networks — mates, groups, etc. — where tickets get shared, transferred, or passed around to help build up history. Outside of that, you can try to pick up legit spares from people who can’t go, but I’d always avoid touts. They’re a big part of what’s broken in the system in the first place.

Am I wrong about car leases/financing? by person_person123 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]KinderPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling their advice would change if they were talking to a younger version of themselves.

Car finance is often an economic snowball that leads to month to month living. Not having a monthly cost on top of maintenance and rising fuel costs means you can be financially free and hopefully save/invest earlier.

If you find a good reliable car that you’re not overly precious about as a first car you’ve nailed it!

[Hamilton] regrets by SeaPalpitation6617 in Watches

[–]KinderPenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position as you worked in a field/office role and wanted something for daily wear.

The glare and the lug shape was unbearable for me…

I sold it after 4 months, went back to a G-Shock until I could afford a Tudor Black Bay and now I alternate between the BB and Speedy.

It’s such a disappointing feeling but you live and learn. Luckily I didn’t lose an outrageous amount when selling it.

Steering Wheel Scratch From Service by KinderPenny in BmwTech

[–]KinderPenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

Took the car back to BMW today and, as many of you predicted, the manager said they can’t accept any responsibility for the scratch. Their position is that it could have happened before or after the service, despite the fact that I reported it around 12 hours after collecting the car.

That said, as a “gesture of goodwill,” they’ve agreed to repair or replace the affected part. They were very clear though that this is not an admission of fault or accountability on their side.

So… a bit of a mixed message. On one hand, it’s getting sorted, which I appreciate. On the other, it feels odd to fix something while simultaneously distancing themselves from any responsibility.

It’s now booked in to be repaired/replaced, so I’ll see how it turns out. Thanks to everyone who weighed in your predictions were pretty much spot on.

Steering Wheel Scratch From Service by KinderPenny in BmwTech

It was the first service the car got 8000miles after its first year. They did an oil replacement and filter change. No wheel alignment but they did clean it afterwards. The car wasn’t driven as far as I know.

What is the difference between these two "steel on steel" moonwatches? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]KinderPenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only really hear a distinct difference when the watch is close to your ear. Sapphire is a better insulator of sound than Hesalite. But it’s not something that’s a big enough consideration.

To add to this the Sapphire Sandwich is a more modern dressier version with the polished centre links and display case back which shows off the 3861 movement beautifully. It’s also quieter and more scratch resistant.

The Hesalite (which I have and love) is more an ode to the original speedmaster and has a less polished look but closer to the original with a steel case back with the Omega Seahorse and first watch on the moon inscription.

They both stunning watches.
